  • How Long Should I Wait..............?

I'm really trying to be patient and do this diet right.I was wondering, how long should I keep going before I come to the reality that this diet just might now work for me?I have hung in there for over 3 weeks of not loosing, I have removed foods I thought were causing problems, upped my water, got rid of my diet sodas, dumped the olives.............and yet, still no weight loss.Still wear the same size clothes (went shopping and tried on just to see).Is there even the remote possiblity that this diet just doesnt work for everyone?I wanna make this work, but am I being naiive?

    Firstly, give this a read.
    http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5090

And give yourself more time. I know that's not a really dynamic answer, but really..that's all you can do right now. You had a great loss in your first week (above the 10% of goal weight), and that shows that you are certainly capable of losing.

I know it's frustrating in the beginning, especially after that initial big loss...but in a few months you'll realize that your body was just getting started and it was just sorting itself out.

If you go into my progress pictures in my link (hopefully the link is still working! if not, let me know please!) you'll see that I didn't start seeing changes until about month 3.

    Patience, little grasshopper!

Re: How Long Should I Wait..............?

I really expected Atkins to be "magic" and have the weight just fall off. I was dissappointed and frustrated when others were losing a lot more, and I wasn't seeing the results I wanted, and I almost gave up. But then it started to work. It comes in little bursts...nothing for a week or two and then *bam* a few pounds gone! It's real weight loss, and you'll see and feel the difference.

And if you exercise and drink your water and really follow the diet, you'll see results. I promise!!!

It's worth the wait, trust me. Don't give up until you've given it 6-8 weeks.

Hang in there!!! It's hard not to get frustrated when the weight isn't coming off, but you gotta give your body time to adjust to the new eating.

If you can, why don't you post your daily menu...maybe there's something that one of us will spot that's stalling your weight loss?? Also, are you exercising?? Don't give up, Diva!!

first congrats on shedding the 7 pounds. have you check with your tapemeasure to see if you have lost any inches in this time of no sclae weight? many folk get validated with the tapemeasure not the scales.

We are all assuming you did get the pre Atkins doctor visit and blood work to be sure all body systems were healthy when you started so
what you doing as the mandatory exercise part of your Atkins?
Are you eating only when hungry and stopping when hunger is satisfied? many folk over eat their atkins. being this far in you should have excellent appetite suppression and be using the 6 hr rule almost daily.

I know stalls can be very frustating and everybody has a post induction hesitation in scale weight loss period that can make folk think the plan isn't working but every weight loss plan has this effect too. I changed so much stuff when i had my fist stall and finally went back to eating what had gotten me to that point andthe scales moved again. read chapter 15 of your DANDR and see if any thing applies to you.

Even losing 146 pounds I had several long stalls one 13 weeks so i know your frustation but I also know it does and will work if you are doing it correctly.

I agree! Congrats on losing 7.5lbs!! How is that not progress?? You have lost an average of almost 2lbs per week. That's great! I know you may see others losing much more in induction, but everyone's different. Be patient...

Also, post a typical day's menu...maybe there are some things that you don't realize...and are you exercising? Hang in there!

Maybe you should move on to OWL. More veggies might just help you. I saw my calories drop when I moved up to OWL and started eating more veggies. It might just 'bust' your stall. I have been praying for you! please don't give up, this WOL works!!

Re: How Long Should I Wait..............?

Do a combo if you can. Do you have a Curves nearby? That is a good beginner's to mid range program to get us noving in the right direction. It tones and causes increased metabolism.

If you don't want to join somewhere, just get moving in any way you can. Start at 20 or so minutes a day a few times a week at whatever level causes you to feel just a bit challenged. Then add more minutes/sessions as you feel your stamina improving. Iyamamaschke (Sarah) has a very interesting bodybuilding thread in the exercise forum. Each week she copies and pastes the original 1st post with lots of great info and links about resistance/weight training into the new thread. Check that out too!

I've found previously it has been such small things such as ketchup, creamer for a coffee etc that will stall a person. Try posting a day or week etc of what exactly you are eating and maybe we can point something out.

Same here, friends began Atkins and lost 10 - 20 lbs very quickly, I began and pretty much I've lost 13 lbs Since Jan 3. I've only been exercizing for one month and not exactaly that either. But I've tried to add exercize 3 x a week for me.

Keep it up, you can do it and you will see more lbs drop in time.
Lord, my dream is to lose this weight and to be healthier.
