  • was bad for a couple of days

I have to own up for this, as a way to help myself from doing it again.

I got a couple of the Atkins bars because I was SO hungry in the afternoon. I was also eating too much cheese. I gained a little, but am back on track at 167.8 this morning...almost to 167 again! I realize I was being very bad!!

I am packing more in my lunch , and bringing 4 cubes of cheese as a satisfying mid morning snack. Not sure what to eat for an afternoon snack though...is beef jerky ok?

Maybe someone could help me with some suggestions...mainly a snack for the mid-afternoon (at work) that doesn't have to be refridgerated?

    Thank you so much,
    Lisa

Don't beat yourself up over those bars. Use it as a learning experience.

I tend to go for things that need refrigerated. How about getting one of those insulated lunchboxes? I take mine with me everywhere.

As for beef jerky...I'm not really sure about that. I'd check the sodium and other ingredients first just to be on the safe side.

Not sure about the beef jerky, check the ingredients. I usually bring a chilled lunch bag, I make deviled eggs at my desk (bring a hard boiled egg and some miracel whip and a little cup, mix it up) for snack or a sugar free jello cup (made with gelatin and splenda instead of sugar)

O.o Well, really, I seem to find that even if something needs to be refridgerated and I take it to school for lunch in a normal walmart bag it doesn't real affect it. Yeah sure, it's a little warm, but it still tastes good. String cheese sticks, pickles, and yummy lunch meat is the ticket for me.

Now before someone on here chided me on it, I used to take the Atkins protein shakes but I've been making an effort to prepare a lunch before hand. I don't know if they're induction proof, but probably not. Could someone clear me up on that? And is whey protein a good alternative or should I just stay away from these completely?

Thanks everyone I've seen some insulated lunch containers that help keep food cold for several hours +...guess getting one of those would be very helpful! I got some pork rinds, which I haven't been over-eating thankfully! Not my favorite snack though LOL, but it helps in the afternoon if I get really hungry!

            Great suggestion, rockin!
According to Kraft Foods Miracle Whip contains
WATER, SOYBEAN OIL, VINEGAR, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, SUGAR, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, EGG YOLKS, SALT, MUSTARD FLOUR, ARTIFICIAL COLOR, POTASSIUM SORBATE AS A PRESERVATIVE, SPICE, PAPRIKA, NATURAL FLAVOR, DRIED GARLIC.
so you might do better with ordinary mayo plus a mixture of mustard/papikra/dried garlic instead
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

That sounds like a great way to spice up mayo a bit...thanks for that tip! I'm not crazy about plain mayo, but that addition sounds rather good.

Re: was bad for a couple of days

i bring my lunch everyday .. but iv had days where i was either running late or forgot it or was just more hungry then usual .. so i started keeping food AT work in the fridge so i would always have a back up

for an afternoon snack i usually get some cheese and cut it into lil mini cubes .. and some pepparonis and some veggies and put then in a zip lock bag .. then add various seasonings ( whatever im in the mood for) and shake it all together and then pour it into a bowl ... i just put it on my desk and munch on it wile im working ...

for me the key is to always be prepaired .. and have food on hand .. otherwise i get hungry and im tempted to eat bad stuff ...

I've bought one of those insulated lunch containers...it's like a huge mug. Kept my deviled eggs cold all day long!

I forgot about pepperoni, Sarah...that would be a great snack!
