  • Water intake calculations

For water the magic minimum number seems to be 64oz per day - some posts on the forums talk of increasing this by certain quantities to cover missed exercise sessions, amount of weight to be lost etc - I don't have a problem consuming the water but wondered how it should be calculated for the individual - thanks (the book is on order and should be here soon)

    Re: Water intake calculations

Well, I don't really have an answer to your question. I do know that if I drink at least 100oz a day, I feel better and lose faster.
What would we do without it?

      Re: Water intake calculations

I go with a 96 to 120 oz (1 gallon) a day just beacause, but I've read in a few medical articles that a good way to stay hydrated is half your weight in ounces daily if you don't exercise. 75% of your weight if you exercise. For me that would be 85 ounces, but for someone over, say, 300 pounds, that's 150 ounces, which is alot, so i just say stick with as close to a gallon as you can and you'll be hydrated. This calculator is interesting:

Dotsamantha, just tried that calculator link you had up. I am basically at the same weight as you are now. Today I exercised for 30 on indoor cycle so I put low. Came back as 129 ounces. Boy I feel like I am drowning right now with 90-100 oz. -Think I will stick with what I am doing and have some tea as my extras.

Thanks for the link. It was interesting.

Yeah, it does seem like a whole lot. I make my minimum 96 oz and go from there.
