  • Ketosis Question?:

I just have a question regarding Ketosis. On Friday I had a small chunck of watermelon and a 2 pc. of chocolate egg. I have been in induction for 3.5 wks. My question is this: Does each person have a threshold of the amount of sugar they comsume before it is enough to knock them out of ketosis? I have tested 2x a day since then and still looks good. ( To my amazment ).
How long does it usually take to registar?

Also for easter we had a veggie tray. Except I used straight Ranch dressing and lots of salt.... no good. Stepped on the scale this morning, yeah... gained 6lbs. I surley drank alot of water yesterday as well. Can I assume water retention? I took a duretic this morning, and I will drank as much water as possible. I will also hit the gym tonight. Hopefully this will help. Thanks for all the advice!

    Re: Ketosis Question?:

Yes everyone has an amount od carbs they can eat before they are thrown out of ketosis. If you read the stickies in the OWL forum it all is explained there. The waight gain probably is from the salt, but remember just because you got away with the melon and chocolate doent mean you can eat them and still loose weight.

For me whenever I ate sugar my ketos sticks went from dark purple to light pink the next day.

Yes, everyone has a level of carbs they can eat to and still lose weight or maintain weight---that's what the weight loss phases of Atkins is all about: learning your individual numbers. Only a very, very small percentage of us need to eat below 20 net carb grams in order to lose weight. The majority of us can eat well above 20 (we have a few OWLers who have been able to eat above 100 net carbs daily and lose weight).
