    example for today
I had 3 scrambled eggs and 1oz cheese and 4 slices bacon covered with tabasco sauce
snack-1cup pork rinds with tabasco sauce

lunch-nothing yet.. but I am wondering.. if I have 1 cup steamed broccoli with 1oz cheese.. I know I can still eat 2 cups of salad for today.. I am trying to space out instead of eating everyday all my veggies in one seating like a big salad. anyways but like if I eat the cup of broccoli right now I will get the salad for dinner I cannot add any more veggies to it right? so in other words just the salad, maybe with some bacon, eggs, and dressing.. am I correct?
    TIA!

    Re: food question

I'm not sure but I dont think pork rinds are allowed in induction.

I believe you are correct about the veggies.

Pork Rinds are induction friendly, but you will need to watch the sodium intake so drink lots of water!

Loana your right about the veggies. Sometimes I eat my other veggie at lunch and do the salad with dinner. Just during induction. When you go to OWL you can have more...and guess what, it won't hinder your weight loss.

                Re: food question

you don't have to have a sald at all Dr Atkins called them salad veggies but you can pick any veggie or veggies off there to make 2 cups. I love pepers sweet or hot ones and use them as my veggies. mushrooms are another, or a stir fry with dinner or even a cream of _________ ( pic your veggie) soup with dinner. If you want more of thiose yummy veggies move to OWL and do rung one. you can squat on rung one for months if you don't want to climb higher.

it is not the sodium you need to watch it is the amount of porkrinds you consue. We have had memebers who wwre part of the famous Duke study and one of them told us Dr Atkins told the Duke docs 1 cup was all the pork rinds inducttees should have for a whole day. when Dr Atkins taslkes about them in DANDR he says a few not a bag full.

                  Re: food question

I haven't had pork rinds since February...not sure why. I did eat them during induction though. I used them in place of crackers for dipping up tuna salad and cream cheese, etc. They're very versatile that way.

                    Re: food question

I am with Joy and TooBig.
I use pork rinds as dippers or in place of bread crumbs in meatloaves, sausage balls or salmon patties. I leave out the salt in the recipe when using them.
I am burnt out on just "salads" but I will eat celery with my breakfast in order to space my carbs out during the day. I seem to feel better when I do that and not eat just protein for breakfast.
And I am like you, gotta have my hot sauce!!
Also I use jicama, radishes or cucumbers as dippers and they count as your salad, too.

                        Re: food question

Not all pork skins are created equal - there are far fewer in a cup if you use the puffy kind than if you use the hard. Also, some brands have more salt than others. They do qualify as an induction food (not the coating on the BBQ variety, however) because they are the skin of a meat. For a nice lower salt pork skin treat you can make, get pork cracklins in your grocer's meat dept., soak them to lessen the salt the fry, bake or microwave as you would bacon! mmmm!!

Then for the rest, have some meat sauteed with your hot peppers and veggies. The variety you can come out with is astounding!!

psssst! These are the best - skinny hard strips seasoned with cayenne. You can order at http://www.porkskins.com/ if you can't find them! (But be careful they're VERY crunchy!)
