  • Did I make a mistake??

    Hey everybody,

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I think I may have messed up somewhere.

I made a big salad mix. (to be spread out over meals....) (trying to save time)..

    1 Cup of Tomato
    1 Cup of Onion
    1 Cup of Cucumber
1 Cup of Green Bell Pepper
    8 Cups of lettuce (shredded)

I’m still on extended induction, so I’m only eating 3 cups of that total mixture each day.

1 ½ cups at lunch. 1 ½ cups at dinner.

Are Green Bell Peppers acceptable, I freaked when I started looking in the book, maybe I missed it. I am using Fit-Day and it says that .25 cup of raw onions has 3 carbs!! Yikes!

It this still okay or do I need to go back to strictly lettuce….any thoughts or advice?
I'm also considering moving to the next level, I never made it there before...going for it I think. I'm a musician, and sometimes my meals have been very far between, I'm drinking water like crazy, but need to come up with meals, I can eat between sets, or late at night after gigs...can't play and sing on a full stomach....

first look in your veggie lest and you will see peppers all kinds of peppers are legal hot and the sweet Bells.

now if your salad mix is in the ratio of 2 parts salad veggie list and 1 part other veggie lest then in theory any serving of the mix should be be in the right ratio and as long as you have 3 cups for the day you are fine.

Your veggies should be spread to all meals not just lunch and dinner since they represent the majority of your carbs for the day. It might not seem to matter right now but as you get to OWL you will need to balance those carb servings throughout the day so you don't have blood sugar swings during the day from different carb intakes at different meals. think of yourself as a car running on super you can'T put in a tank of regular and run then add 2 tanks of premium and expect great engine preformance all day cause they averaged out to the right octane. Same thing for the body. have some carbs some protein and sopme fat at each meal and you too will be a big loser on Atkins.

Some folk have issues with the natural sugars in tomatoes and onions and can't eat them because of their body metabolism. I had no trouble eating them and losing.
