  • I'm getting bored.

I'm doing pretty well. I've lost over 50 lbs. YAY!! However, I am getting so bored of the same ol same ol. I know there is a recipe area BUT I thought it might be cool if people could tell me what there favorite atkins snack, meal, treat is etc..
I have 2 kids and I actually spent too much time even typing this...The recipe area overwhelms me. I would like to see what others eat that helps them get through the day. Thanks in advance..

Are you still in extended induction? That is a sure fire recipe for boredom! At least do the extra 5 carbs on the veggie rung.. Here's a link to my new most favorite recipe, which even my kids love:

Well, I don't mean to sound harsh, but everybody has kids or jobs or kids and jobs. Or no kids and still a hectic life. You are going to need to find the time to find what fits your needs and likes. There are so many recipe sites out there. What rung are you on??

          Re: I'm getting bored.

Here's my short simple answer, the best EI meal ideas are:
Buffalo Chicken (naked or coated with parmesan cheese)
Fajita Chicken Salad w/ sour cream, guacomole- quick and easy
Stir Fry -- onion, peppers, garlic, and some meat choice (beef summer sausage, leftover roast, or pork)

The best salads or sides are:
Broccoli Bacon Salad or 7 layer salad (both with Splenda instead of sugar)
          Kent - 35-M-6'4"

            Re: I'm getting bored.

I eat a lot of tuna salad
make a biiiiiig tub of it, scoop it with pork rinds

I usually like to make stuff ahead of time and freeze, i love stuffed peppers

I also like to make cheesecake, and eat really tiny portions every once in a while...
another favorite is chicken wings... but cleaning the pan gets boring...

The bacon cheeseburger quiche on the site posted above is one of my faves! Everyone in the family loves it!

I love the chile rellenos casserole as well!

Zucchini gratin is another fave (side dish)

                Re: I'm getting bored.

I didn't mean that others don't have hectic lives as well. It's just that are so many recipes on the recipe board it's a little overwhelming. I thought it would be quicker & more fun to hear what everyone's favorite atkins EI food is. Like I LOVE the mock danish. It's a perfect food when you have a craving for something sweet. I also love Tyson chicken wings. I almost feel guilty when I eat them they taste so good. Yes I am still doing extended induction (although I occasionally go out for a Bacardi & diet once in a while. Oh & I drink coffee). Sometimes I go over the 20 carbs but I just chalk it up to a bad day and don't sweat it too much. Teresa, F-32

                  Re: I'm getting bored.

Zelda - I see from your stats that you are now about 20 pounds from goal. Congratulations on your loss so far, but I think it is time you think about moving to OWL or you will arrive at goal never having found out which foods you can add wihtout upsetting your body, or have a clue about how many carbs you can eat and maintain your goal weight.

After spending a couple of years reading this board and others it seems to me that the people who lose all their weight on induction only are the ones who have the hardest time managing to stay slim after goal, as they have not conducted the OWL experiment as Dr Atkins suggested.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                    Re: I'm getting bored.

Yeah, I hear you. I was just going to wait until I had 10 lbs. left. I don't have any clothes that fit me & with summer coming soon I just wanted to lose as much as possible. I know I'm doing well but I still feel like a tank. I am dreading wearing shorts & even worse (gulp) my bathing suit. Although I do have a question. Does OWL mean I will never have a chocolate cookie or slice of pizza again? I don't mind cutting the carbs out of my diet but I don't know if I can swear them off forever.

Ongoing Weight Loss is a lot like Induction in that it has rules or perhaps strong suggestions on what to eat. Pizza, including the regular crust, for instance might be added in the final rungs with grains. It is however within pre-maintenance and maintenance that most Atkineers add the former forbidden foods in moderation. It is up to the individual Atkineer and their tolerance levels to decide how much and how often. Just remember, you are learning a lifestyle not just a means to get you to your goal weight. Figuring out if and how to add pizza back should definitely be on the list of your things to do in OWL or Pre-M then.
