  • why am I sooo hungry today?

    is beena very very hectic day... so it started fast
    early this morning I ate a protein bar for breakfast (been eating one a day)
    lunch I picked up as we were about 1 1/2 hour away form home searching for pinatas so I picked up a salad form mcdonalds
    than I am still hungry so I just ate a few pieces of chicken cooked on crocked pot yesterday and just added some hotsauce.. been drinking tons of water but Ia m still wanting osmehting.. I think I am just snackish and want something sweet?
    what can I eat sweet?

    Did you eat the dressing from Mcdonalds on your salad, because I think it has quite a few carbs in it on top of the carbs in the salad. May have been too many carbs at once. I'm looking at a Newman's Own Ranch, which I think I got from Mcdonalds, and it has 9 carbs for that one pouch. I put it in my drawer because 9 carbs is too many for me to waste on salad dressing. LOL I keep a low carb dressing here in the fridge I use instead.

      oh yeah for something sweet maybe some cream cheese with splenda just heat it in the microwave. I usually do 2 oz of cream cheese with 2 splenda (if I have them in my daily sweetener count) and a splash of vanilla. It's a nice induction sweet treat.

        man I did eat their dressing
        salad by itself is 12 grams and than the dressing is 9 dang it ohw ell I screwed up today (

          looks like yoiu had a lot of protein and not much fat today have just the cream cheese as your snack. by now it should be tasting sweet all by itself to you. roll the stuff round the roof of your mouth and stimulate the fat pleasure areas of the mouth that trigger pleasure chem release in the brain and enjoy!

          remember even if the protein bar is low carb it isn't Atkins as it has more protein then fat and eating excess protein means that protein was converted to sugar for fuel not what Atkineers want happeneing.

          Make sure you paln for emergencies and delays and carry foods and water with you when you head out a lunch mate will hold a meal and go a long way to keeping you ontrack.

            can you post the link to the emergency pack? I think that's a great idea!

            oh, and since I'm still hooked on quiche... I actually like mine cold too... so it could just go in a tupper into the car, grab a fork and chow wherever you are!

              Thanks girls!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not eat dinner as I fell asleep at 9.. very weird for me.. woke up at 11 and stayed up till 2am but did dnot feel hungry

                here is the basic idea of the kit and you can add stuff you think is important to you like a pic of you and DH if being healthy to grow old together was part of your weight loss motivation a pic of your kids if being alive to see them grow up was a reason for you to lose, etc,.

                Keep an Atkins Emergency Kit ready to jump into action for use as required; pack:

                1. some bottles of water to drink at the first sign of stress. This will do several things; one, it will give you a response to the situation that is Atkins friendly; two, it will fill your tummy a bit and delay eating the bad stuff; and three, it will reprogram your "food as a drug" response memories to use water instead (hopefully).

                2. a picture of you in those new smaller size ____ and a friendly note from you reminding yourself why it is important to you to be able to wear them. This may help you get a hold of the situation.

                3. a written out set of exercises you can do anywhere like isometric muscle contractions or heck even those famous kegel things the ladies were doing in chat a few months ago. Any exercise you can focus your mind on and do will use up the chemicals the stress is producing in a productive manner and deactivate the situation. Just think, your friends are eating cream puffs and you are kegeling. The mental image of that should cause you to laugh out loud and laughter can release stress too.

                4. a copy of your goals and reasons to do Atkins as a reminder to again think whether you really want to do what you thought you needed to do. Include a pic of you at your biggest weight and at your smallest weight to help you visualize this.

                Now if you still need some food:

                5. a crunchie snack food you enjoy like cheese chips, pork rinds, flax chips, nuts, seeds whatever you like. This will give you mouth texture, noise, and chewing action to satisfy several of your "mouth taster" receptors and not just the ones on your tongue.

                6. something high fat you enjoy like a small package of laughing cow cheese, creamcheese, macadamia nuts, whatever you enjoy. This will boost your ketosis helping you cutoff any blood sugar driven cravings and still allow you to eat.

                7. a salty food you enjoy. Sometimes this will help handle the craving for a sweet. Packaged pickles maybe?

                8. a sweet snack as a last resort something you really enjoy (sugarless of course).

                Pack this all up like those of us that were Scouts did when we made our survival kits. Make sure you replace what you use and refresh the supplies as needed. For instance, when you drop a size replace the pic and update the note. Keep it handy and make one to take with you or better yet store one at work, in the car, and at home so you always have one at hand.

                YOU CAN PLAN YOUR WAY OUT OF A CHEAT!

                Above all, hang in there. We all know that deep down inside you love the healthier smaller person that you are becoming more then whatever enjoyable feelings your brain thinks you are getting from the cheating.

                  Today so far so good.. I ate like 3 slices of bacon already
                  and wanted something sweet so I made the brownie mock danish (YUCK) I tasted it and left it so I am not hungry and I ate like 3 hours ago I am lanning on having some pork rinds sometime when the hunger hits and will probably cook some ribs in over but not sure what to add I been drinking my water....now if I could only use the bathroom... Ughhhhh I go days without going... this sucks!

                    where are your veggies? when you are hungery eat . remeber we have some protein some fat and some of our carbs (over 1/2 of the total amount of carbs for the day must be your veggie carbs so you better be having some of them too) at each meal

                    if you need to go add some fiber to your eating either flax seed meal or psylluim.

                    FYI check your label on your pork rinds as they too are a higher protein food.

                      I been etaing them in a sald? right? a caesar salad yesterday counted as my veggies?
                      I read your post and switched from a cup of pork rinds to a cup of cucumbers with a bit of salt and some hot sauce.. I am cooking my ribs in over right now with a bit of garlic and some oregano

                        when we eat any of our carb foods we need to have a fat with them so add some butter or oil to your hotsauce for the veggies next time or use your sald dressing.

                        we want some carbbs some protein some fat at every meal

                        think of yourself as a car running on super you can fuel up on regulare and them have a tank of premium later and say the octane average out to equal for all the gas used what it should have been. Without the dietary fats to prime the system you will be getting blood sugar swings and that could cause you to wreck your Atkins weight loss.
