Sorry, I posted this on the wrong forum so I am re-posting it here.

    Hi,

I'm very new to the Atkins diet and I am just finishing my 2nd week of induction. I want to stay on the induction phase as long as possible but I am getting tired of the food I've been eating and I'm a bit confused about what the book says I can have.

For example, according to the book I can have cream cheese. However, all the cream cheese brands I see in the store have about 2g of sugars per every 2 Tbsp. I thought during induction I couldnt have sugars?

I really wish I understood this, because that "mock danish" sounds great.

    Thanks

    Re: Cream Cheese

Look for Kraft Philadephia Cream Cheese, it is a lower carb than the store brands. You are allowed 3 oz. of cheese a day, that number includes cream cheese. And you are right that mock danish is delish.

      Re: Cream Cheese

you are looking on the wrong label. we avoid sugar in the INGREDIENTS label. Sugar in the nutritional label can be added or natural sugars like those found in every fruit and veggie. If your cream cheese has legal ingredients it is Atkins legal.

Also look at stores' "own brand" of cream cheese. I found that Waitrose cream cheese has half the carbs of Philadelphia cream cheese.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

That explains a lot, thanks. I guess my food choices are not as limited as I thought they were. I'm so excited, now I think I'll go looking for some new recipes.

For those of you who have an Aldi's. Their cream cheese is lower than Philadelphia, too.
