  • Thinking of Doing and Extended Induction

It is day 14 of induction and I have actually gained one pound!!!! (this must be a consequence of doing very heavy weight training 4 times a week!!) I lost quite a few inches during indution. After the scales failed to produce results I bought a measuring tape 4 days ago and in the last 4 days since I measured myself I have lost 2inches of my waist, 2 inches of my hips and 2 inches of my bust.My skin and my figure have greatly improved biggest change has been in my waistline now sporting "28 inch waist and missing what used to be the beginining of love handles which I am really happy with. I love the fact that I now drink water, I do not eat junk and I have greater control over food.

I have decided to do an extended induction and cut all dairy completely and get fat from olive oil only. I have decided to eat now only when I am hungry ( not exceeding 6 hours) and watch portions and do just cardio for the next 2 weeks. Next week is half term week and my cousin is visiting as I have childcare I will just go to the gym everyday I will continue to drink 140- 175 ounces of water everyday and see if I can move that scale!!!!

Any other advice would be great!

Ignore the weight... focus on the inches... after staying on induction the weight will fall off in 5-10 lb increments. Read "weight loss is not linear"...

I'm on Atkins for 2 months now and honestly I have NO idea how much I weigh but I've lost > 5 inches. I'm probably around 190 now...

My advice.... be careful about extended indunction. OWL is NOT your enemy and dairy won't hurt you.

You really won't see too much of a weight loss change from at least the first 3 rungs of OWL.

If you start to want more food choices just do it....... this was my BIGGEST mistake the first round with Atkins. I limited my food choices and eventually went insane and just quit atkins.

This is a LONG term diet. The weight will vanish but its important to stay on atkins for the rest of your life which means going through OWL.

My advice... go on extended induction... if you start to get bored with the diet or frustrated with the food choices just goin on OWL... some people even report accelerated losses on OWL.

    Onward!

Daphne, CONGRATULATIONS on those inches!!! Who cares what you WEIGH as long as the love handles are gone and your body ROCKS!?!?

I did weight training for six weeks and only lost 12 lbs (now, mind you, I weigh OVER 200 lbs...even after losing 56) but I lost inches and inches off my body. Honestly, I think I was a little bummed at not losing more on the scale, and I quit lifting for almost six weeks. Yeah, the weight started sliding off, but the inches then started slowing wayyyyy down. So, I guess you have to ask yourself which is more important to you, the way you LOOK in the mirror and to other people who see you, or what you weigh (and you're the only one who sees that)??

ask yourself is your goal to loss fat or pounds? if you want to lose pounds do it your way. if you want to be the healthier smaller you then keep doing your cardio and your resistance training as Dr Atkins says. those inches you lost were inches of fat. on Atkins doing it correctly we morph our bodies getting rid of fat mass, adding lean muslce mass and fluid mass is in a constant state of flux. Unfortunately sclaes only measure the effect of gravity on our total mass so if you lost 4 pounds of fat mass add 2 pounds of muscle mass and 3 pounds of fluid mass even though you are skinnier you think you got fatter cauase the scales say up 1.

Check out the yummy extra 5 net carbs of veggies you can have in OWl rung one. Dairy proteins and calcium have a positive effect on bones and weight loss too so don't cheat yourself there.
