I see that word SUGAR in there- not allowed on induction; extended OR otherwise. But I'd sure love to know if there are any ice-cream substitutes with 0 carbs out there!!!!!

LC ice cream is acceptable in the dairy rung. So not too far up the road for you inductees. I do get the bars occasionally. They are good, in my opinion. And easier for portion control than the regular ice cream. I like the Breyers Carbsmart Vanilla as well. But yeah, I can eat the whole carton!

Re: Danger Yummy Low Carb Items You Should Not Buy!!

ut oh - I think i am in trouble haha. We have "family" dinner night over my parents' once a week and thats when (before atkins for myself) we used to have desert - like cake or pie or something, not low fat/carb, etc. So this past weekend, she got me carbsmart ice cream - neopolitan. I had a little less than a 1/2 cup. It said on the carton, made with splenda, and the chocolate & strawberry were "sorbert," no ice cream, (and labled as 1 carb or so) so i figured it was probably induction ok (just for the one time, i will not eat it again, i felt guilty).
What do you all think? Was it safe or no b/c it may have milk or something?

*I dont have it infront of me so i am not exactly sure of the ingrdients, but all i remember is the sorbert, which is no milk.

Hey, 3 oz heavy cream are allowed; so wouldn't homemade ice cream with 3 oz heavy cream, plus water & sweetner, even certain flavorings, be legal - even for induction?

If all the ingredients are induction safe and you stay with in your portion limits for cream, then go for it. But above all, read the ingredients on anything that you are not 100% sure of. Until you have a good handle on what cause you to crave and what doesn't, don't risk it. I mean, just think how much better the LC ice cream will taste when you look all hot and sexy eating it. I think there was an ice cream recipe floating around that involved a couple of ziplocks and some ice along with cream and sweetner and what not. Check in the food chats. Also see if you can find the clouds recipe. That's induction friendly. Easier to portion control, too,You Just don't make alot of 'em!!

Thanks so much for the advice, i really appreciate it! Yeah, I have been getting a "sweet tooth" the past few days (not so much today) so i def know that the ice cream wasnt a good idea. Isnt it that is you "crave" sugar, your not in ketosis? I already did find the ice cream ziplock thingy and printed it haha. Im just trying to stay away from all artifical sweetners now (no crystal lite, etc). Im in my third week of induction (and the first two week i wasnt as successful as i wanted to be) so i think its just best i stay away from everything. I will make the clouds if its unbearable of the cravings.. but hopefully i wont even need to rely on them! again, i appreciate your help.

Oh, rock on, Suze! You is a smart one! I didn't even see it.

Clouds are rockin' good. I only make them in small quantities. Here's a link to another recent thread about clouds. Heidi graces us with the recipe here. Be sure to read what Not2Late says. They are hard to stop eating. When I make them (half recipe) I use a pastry bag and a star tip and they come out lookin' like those yummy chocolate stars I used to get as a teenage. I have also added unsweetened cocoa to them.

                            http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...=clouds+recipe
Honestly, if you are having bad cravings, its a good idea to cut out all the sweetners altogether for a bit and when you re-introduce them, do it one item at a time per week and really pay attention to your body to see if that's what's messin' ya up.
And I do not believe just 'cause you crave that you are out of ketosis. Sometimes, craving is a total mental thing.
So, feel the force, Luke and kick those cravings in the booty with a few Jedi-low carb mind tricks.

you guys I just posted a toasted coconut marshmallow recipe down in the deserts section ..these worked fine for me with intense cravings and did not trigger me ..they are similar to clouds but less butter and some Xanthun gum to make the texture better ...if you leave off the coconut they are ok for induction ..but IMHO ..they should only be used later when you feel more in control....

these have rescued me from baking a cake and eating it several times and also I can eat 1 or 2 with a glass of sparkling water for desert and do fine
