• Dissapointed :( I can do better

Hello all.

I have been on induction for 3 weeks. After the first 2 wks I lost 10 lbs. Great! I have not cheated at all. NO SUGAR. My splenda intake maybe a bit high (3-4 pkts tops) on some days, because I use it in my am coffee and once and awhile cooking. For instance I put it in my Low Carb cole slaw, I also used a bit in some whipped marscapone cheese, the Mock Danish.

One night my Darling made dinner and he made the steak with HIGH CARB Steak sauce. I knew INSTANTLY. I Only ate 2 bitee. I have been soo tempted to cheat. My daughter got a Slice of pizza the other day...ooeey gooey, greasy, Pizza...That little darling let me eat her pepperoni's

But I weighed yesterday and I gained back 6 pounds
I wanted to die. Well ok not die, but I did want to cheat. BUT I DIDN'T. I know this WOE works, I am just not working it.

Anyway I am going to stick to it. But Starting on monday I am GIVING UP the am Coffee and NO MATTER WHAT drinking 3 litres of water. No more "legal sweets". I will measure my salads and Veggies and Lose 10 pounds again.

Thanks guys...Im very, very down,

There are always going to be ups and downs, it's the long term that counts. You've been eating the mascarpone during induction? To my knowledge, as a fresh cheese, mascarpone isn't recommended until the dairy rung. Definitely cut out the extra sweetener. I found the best way to defeat my sweet craving was to starve it. I didn't have any sweetener during the first two weeks. No caffeine either. The situation could be also that you're ready to move onto owl. They say when you're getting bored or having new cravings it may be time to start up the rungs.

How are your measurements shaping up? If you didnt take them when you started, are your clothes any looser?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Im very, very down
How we speak to ourselves on Atkins is so very important. Affirm the positive for yourself. I see no reason for you to be down whatsoever.

Weight fluctuation is perfectly normal. Just because the scale went up does not mean that you did anything wrong. Thats why it is best to just stay away from the scale altogether.

You can go down entire sizes on Atkins and not see any scale movement at all. You can go down sizes even when you see the scale go up. The scale cannot measure metabolic processes. Just back away from it.

It is not mentally healthy to allow a metal monster to determine your esteem for the day. Long term patience and humor with this WOL is required. If you are using the scale to defeat yourself, its time to put
that scale out of your life. It is possible to live without one. I haven't weighed in over 8 months. I could care less what that number is.

Don't buy into theories that limit you.

It is good to give up coffee because caffeine spikes your blood. Decaf is fine. Atkins is not about deprivation. Don't see it as giving up sweets - see it as finding sweets that you can enjoy without harming yourself. For me, thats the mock danish, pumpkin flan and jicama.

And since the cheese and the pepperoni are the best parts of the pizza, have them as often as you wish. I take a stack, nuke it in the microwave with a string cheese, and get that pizza taste whenever I wish.

Be strong and keep going. Free yourself from scale watching. You are definatly worth it.
Suffering is necessary until you realize it is unnecessary. Eckhart Tolle

Re: Dissapointed I can do better

Hi IAM. Now I can relate. I lost 8 lbs and gained 3... I'm not going to overreact which is something I'm teaching myself. Looks like we both have to learn that. Our weight, one way or another, should not determine our moods. I'm not down... I'm determined. Just do a switch on traditional patterns of thinking I'm thinking... Mind you, this is what I'm saying right now... next week I might be screeching about another gain so in other words, I get what you're going through and there has to be a way around it that comes from inside (feelings) not outside (scale).

Pull yourself together. Look how far you have come already?? WHere were you when you started? Seriously, look at how you have changed in the past 3 weeks, and I DONT mean that lying bastage with the numbers either. The scales evil, I admit I get on mine regularly, but I know how much my body fluctuates. Drink more of your waters, get rid of the marscapone. (cream cheese works well to kill a craving).

If you find yourself Wanting.... think carefully about moving onto OWL. I promise you will still lose weight. Yes, PROMISE. THe first step in OWL is only another 5carbs worth of veggies. Thats it. Stuff you are already eating. Once you get movingon OWL, you can have that marscapone (unless it causes issues and then its best to leave it till maintenence).

Re: Dissapointed I can do better

I would be doing all of the above AND watching that Splenda intake. I already know that I have a sensitivity to sweet stuff. If I go overboard on the Splenda it leads to a binge.

The only way to get over that is to completely shut it out. Once you stay away from it for a while you can add it back in, moderately.

For me, I'd rather just stay away from anything sweet at all because I already know what will happen. Perhaps you have the same thing going on since you mentioned having an issue after eating some of the high carb (probably made that way because of all the sugar added to it) steak sauce.

I think forgoing the sweets will allow you to refocus and get back on track in a big way. Get in tune with your body and it will thank you in the end.

And never beat yourself up over pounds. I know how exciting it is when the scale says you've lost, and I've been there when the scale says you've gained (sometimes more than you expected), but the trick is to move past that and take charge of the situation and get proactive!

You can do it!!
