Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I've heard my co-workers talking about it. I guess they are test strips to check if you are burning fat when your on a LC diet.

i think you're referring to ketosis strips. The brand i bought is ketostix and I got it at the supermarket, mine being Stop and Shop. I don't use them too often. I like to use the measuring tape and scale.

Yes, I also use the Ketostix brand. Some people don't/can't rely on them because their body chemistry just doesn't allow for results with those... I personally use them a lot... I like to know that I'm in ketosis, I guess it's nice reassurance that I'm doing something right.

Great thanks guys, I'll have to pick some Ketostix up at Henry's or Trader Joe's. I agree with you Kittie I want to use them for reassurance not as a guide or anything like that.

Your local pharmacy should sell them. I purchased my strips from Walgreens, it is near the diabetes testing supplies. I doubt your Trader Joe's would have something like this (haven't seen them in the CA stores), but let us know if they do, that would be something!

Well although Dr. A said you can get a gauge of the how "deep" you are into ketosis, there are many threads around the board that explain how results can be skewed. Though many here can get into the "deep purple" state, I remain in the light pink area.

Do you know how long it takes after starting Induction for the strips to turn purple?

Depends on how long it takes you to get into Ketosis. Usually about 3 days for me.
And don't forget, it's like taking a pregnancy test. You either are or aren't. The degree of the color makes no difference. Lots of times drinking lots of water will "dilute" them so to speak.
Oh and I got mine at Walmart, in the diabetic section of the pharmacy area. Much cheaper than the grocery store.

Save your money! Spend you money on new smaller clothes.
If you go by the book and follow it, you will see the results in a thinner, smaller and healthier body.

If you don't turn those stix purple you might be discouraged and not everyone turn the dang thangs purple. If you turn them dark purple, you are probably not drinking enough water. If you drink lots of water, like recommended, the stix won't turn or barely turn color. So save your money and just follow the program and you will become a big success.

Just my 2 cents! I want you to have great success, but I've been there peeing on the stix and then the disappointment. Just a friendly warning!!

                    Happy Low Carbing!

Thanks for the info! I know what you're saying, but I saw them on Ebay (real cheap) and bought them for fun. I know that I will lose weight as long as I follow the plan. This is just something else to liven things up a bit! (Not like @@@ on a stick is fun or entertaining...)

                        Re: Urinalysis test strips.

I use them at least 2 or 3 times a week. Seeing that pink or purple on there keeps me on track. I've used them when I'm tempted to cheat and knowing that it would likely take away all my color keeps me from sticking that food in my mouth. Sounds silly, but I don't want to lose my purple or pink.

                          Re: Urinalysis test strips.

It is exciting when you see that pinkish/purpleish color. I just don't want you to get discouraged if you don't see the color!! Some people never change those stix change color, but they lose the weight and get healthy. I could only change the stix a very slight beigey/pink. But I was drinking water like there was no tomorrow.

                          Have fun, by all means!
