  • I'm extending too

Okay, this induction is over. And I didn't do bad, but I honestly had more cheat days than clean ones. Nothing too major but little things here and there.

I've always been successful on induction, and then I completely stop the WOE and in a few weeks start over. I've never been on a next level!

This time I'm officially extending and restarting induction today, going to try my hardest to make it cheat-free and then move on to the next step. This board has made such a difference in boosting my confidence that I can do it.

That is a wise step. Make sure you have your eating and appetite under control before progressing the rungs because you definitely want your blood glucose stabilized. We will certainly be around to support you and help ensure your success as long as you need it. I wish you much luck in E.I.

I'm going to take my time and stay on induction as long as possible. There are so many great recipes and ideas here that there's not much chance of getting bored with the food.

      Thanks for the encouragement !

I'm going to stay on induction longer as well!
Just remember to re-read ch. 12-14 in the book!

good choice to get clean. Dr Atkins advices in DADNR just a few days in induction to get back to ketosis after cheating anf them move back to where you were so after a few days you might do better to move to OWL rung 1 and add 5 more net carbs of yummy induction veggies so you got more nutrients and fiber. you can sqat on rung 1 for monthes if you want to. I did a rung one squat with my carbs holding at 20 for 6.5 months before i moved on. We have had others stay like Kent in extended with the extra ounce of nuts for a long long time. Whatever works best for you. Chapter 13 will be very helpful in knowing when you need to move on unless you get close to goal and have to move so you can do the framing and roofing of your House of Atkins WOE before you move in as a goalie. remember Dr Atkins says in DANDR those that do all the phases have the lest trouble sticking as goalies.

Thanks, 2big...your advice is always much appreciated. Roshen, I'm going to be re-reading some chapters tonight. This fresh start feels good.

              Re: I'm extending too

Day three of my new clean extended induction and I'm so proud of myself. We went to lunch at my fave Mexican restaurant and I usually stuff myself with the chips and salsa.

But this is what I had today:

Salad which was shredded lettuce topped with guacamole, tomato, pico de gallo, a little cheese, and sour cream. And not one single chip. I stayed right on induction without a teeny slip up!

                    Re: I'm extending too

Extending induction was what I needed. I have had a clean week other than eating a little too much cheese for my system. I didn't go over the allowed limit, but I think that limit is just too much for me to eat every day like I was. And I needed to watch overall eating, just because it's allowed I didn't need to be eating quite so much.

Anyway... I'm trying fitday and really watching it and the weight is coming off again.

If any of you are getting discouraged, hang in there. Just take a step back and look closely at what you're really doing. Make some little changes here and there if you have to, but don't give up. Atkins works!

                        Re: I'm extending too

I found that doing an extended induction (I did it for about 3 months) really helped me get my cravings and eating habits under control. I tried to go as long as possible without cheating, which helped even more. Two weeks of Induction just weren't enough, after years and years of bad eating.

I still made mistakes here and there with foods I thought were legal but weren't, but I learned and kept track of everything for the first 3-4 months in Fitday precisely, which really helped too.

After a while, I knew when I was ready to move into OWL, since I was in control of what I was eating, nor was it so big of a deal to worry about ever single thing I ate as religiously, because I had changed my eating habits permanently to the Atkins WOL.

Even today, I am still making tweaks to what I am eating, as I find some foods bother me now that didn't before, and I've had other health issues that have affected this too. It's a continuous process, but Atkins and ADBB has helped me learned how to handle these things.

                        Good luck!

                          Re: I'm extending too

I have decided to stay on induction too. I'm kinda scared of moving on, and I still only have a copy of the 1999 book, so until I get the updated version I'm not going anywhere....I know it seems like its not a big deal, but I'm a single mom on a budget, and I just can't buy it right now. I'm hoping I can in a few weeks though....and hey, I lost 8 lbs on induction and I'm super excited about that. Its actually working.
