  • Does drinking a lot of water at once add weight?

I drank about 2 64 ounce jugs of water in the last 3-4 hours...when I weighed myself this morning I was 290 but just now I was 298...please tell me it's because of all the water in my body....

    Current Weight: 220

I think a pint of water weighs about a pound in weight, so if you havent sweated it off or expelled in in another way over the three hours then you could easily have an extra few pounds weight sitting there!

BTW 128 ounces in USA fluid ounces is 8 pints = 8 pounds weight!!

No you shouldn't worry and you also shouldn't be weighing yourself that often.

Yep, I can gain 6 lbs in a single day. If you must weigh every day, only do it in the AM naked, AFTER going to the bathroom LOL

Your weight is GOING to fluctuate, you'll be up one day, down the next, back up again, but the overall trend will be down, down down over time. If you must weigh every day, don't freak out when this happens.

One tip I read for the daily scales watcher is to make a note of the weight each time you step on the scales - even make a chart of the fluctuations so you can learn what your body does during the day and over the weeks.
Combined with a food and exercise log it would be a tremendous learning tool!

I put the scale away and decided to weigh myself only on Mondays.

Totally agree! I hate seeing people weighing themselves everyday and getting upset when their weight fluctuates. Just once a week is fine. As soon as u get up, go for a pee and then on the scales!
