  • So I will always burn fat when I work out, correct?

    Since I have so little carbs in my body, when I work out I will begin burning fat almost immediately, right?







    Starting Weight: 307-310
    Current Weight: 220
    Short Term Goal Weight: 225 by May 1st (met)
    Long Term Goal: 215 pounds by June 12th (almost there!)

    well no not exactly. your body sotres fuel you make for use when you begin working out your body will use the phoshogen stored energy that creatine phosphate we have all been reading ads about, the stored glucose-P bonds and the ATP bonds we learned about back in jr high bio classes we created to be used as fuel. once those are used up and you are still exericising your body will burn off the stored glucose in the muscles and send out a signal for more fuel. the body then moves and breaks down fats to fatty acids for fuel and the liver starts proceesing the waste products of the fat busting, the glucose busting and the protein's busted for fuel by the various body parts back to glucose. if you have been propperly eating your atkins your body will have been storing fatty acids in the muscles too for quick energy anf have built more mitochondria and transpoortation chemicals for moving fats so you should be one mean fat burning exerciser. If you have been overeating your Atkins protein then there is a large amount of sugar stores made from them and they will be released for fueling which will increase the blood sugar level which will trigger insulin release which will stop the movements of fats to the muscles and liver for break down to make energy.

      In plain English, right. The carbs will get used first, as they become available. If you are in ketosis, you have very little carbohydrate in your system, as you've already depleted the stores normally present in non-dieting people.

      but regained ~20# in '07 in less than 3 weeks! And again early '08 ...Was in HEAVEN -got to 150, for awhile, then got too busy, and gave in too much... and... OK holding pattern "keep it together..."
