  • 8 weeks in...

I'm 8 weeks into Atkins and I haven't lost any weight for about 2 weeks now. I keep thinking that it's my period or something (Should be sometime this week) I'm getting discouraged but I am trying to get through it without cheating. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong. Here is a sample menu...

Breakfast---2 eggs scrambled, sprinkled with a little feta cheese

Lunch--3 pieces of turkey bacon, slices of turkey and cheese roll ups (2 total rollups) or a plain medium size chicken breast with 1 cup green beans sprinkled with a bit of parmesan cheese

Dinner--2 hamburger patties and steamed or buttered broccoli

And every few days I'll have an Atkins chocolate chip granola bar.

I also drink a lot of water

    Help me!

Well done on drinking your water

I would ditch the bars as they contain ingredients not on the induction allowed foods list apart from the sugar alcohols (which I would count all the carbs of if I were to eat them)
INGREDIENTS: SOY NUGGETS (SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, OAT FLOUR, CALCIUM CARBONATE), GLYCERINE, PROTEIN BLEND [HYDROLYZED COLLAGEN, WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE (MILK)], CHOCOLATE CHIPS (LACTITOL, CHOCOLATE LIQUOR, COCOA BUTTER, SOY LECITHIN, VANILLA AND ACESULFAME POTASSIUM), POLYDEXTROSE, ROLLED OATS, SUNFLOWER OIL, PALM KERNEL AND PALM OIL, DRY ROASTED SOYBEANS, DEHYDRATED COCONUT (SODIUM METABISULFITE), COCOA POWDER (PROCESSED WITH ALKALI), ROASTED ALMONDS, CELLULOSE, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, SOY LECITHIN, SUCRALOSE, ACESULFAME POTASSIUM.
CONTAINS : SOY, MILK, ALMONDS AND SULFITES.
As to your veggies - it looks as if you are over on your one-cup veggies by one cup and dont have any of the 2 cup list.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Are you exercising? I started working out with Slim in 6 and my first week I lost 5 pounds! Do you have an exercise you like to do?

Did you check your measurements?? Sometimes your inches go down before you see the weight loss on the scale. How tall are you?
Also, I lose weight w/ the bars but they do stall a lot of people. Maybe, also cut down on the cheese. I found that cutting out the cheese helped me.

I've listened to a bit of everyones advice...I was on vacation at the time of the big stall--and once I got back to work and was moving around (I'm a manager at a dining room--so it's lots of running around) the weight started coming off again. I've definitely cut down on the bars--plus I find I don't really want them the longer the diet goes on. I've lost about 3 lbs this past week or so...so it appears that everything is back on track....when I reach 160 (which should be soon!) I'm putting in the exercise part of my diet...it's just so hot here in Virginia to stay motivated to work out---I'm hoping eventually the heat wave will break by the time I reach 160.

Everyday I step on the scale it's like the biggest jolt of energy when you see that number tick down! It's funny, I used to dread getting on the scale...now it's like the highlight of my day/week.

Elizellen---You'll be proud of me! I haven't had a packaged atkins product (bars, shakes, etc) since my original post!

              Just a small update.

I'm down 23 pounds and so happy!

I'm at about 12 weeks now...I'm losing more inches then pounds right now...I started in a size 15/16 pants and can now get into a size 13...I'm constantly pulling up my work pants because they slide down at work--I don't really want to go shopping for new pants just yet, as I'll just have to buy more in another month or so...but I'm thinking I can't hold off much longer, or my pants will be down at my ankles (not a good look at a retirement community).

I've never really stuck to a "diet" this long--can't wait to see where this journey takes me from here. Hope everyone else is doing as well.

I'm out of the 160's!! I haven't been in the 150's for about 5 years now.

I'm about to go buy new work pants...I had to give in because I'm tired of pulling them up every three seconds--I hate spending money on clothes though--I'm sure that'll change when I lose a few more pounds.

I can't wait to start really planning my trip to New York (Middle of October). I already have my tickets to broadway shows (Wicked, The Color Purple and Mary Poppins) Now I just need to plan which restaurants I can go to.

I'm back in the 160's...argh...I'm starting to get a bit discouraged and I haven't been feeling well.

I'll double check what I've been eating because I think my feeling sick and the weight gain go together. I don't think I've been getting enough leafy vegetables. I'm going to up that a bit and see if that helps.

woo hoo on your weight loss and your trip.

you should be in the OWL phase by now and having lots of induction vegies plus the extra 5 net carbs of them along with the other foods on the rungs ince you are getting close to the point at which you have to move to premantnenace.

If you added new foods and don't feel well with some added fluid pounds that can be a classic food intorerance or allergic reaction so yes do check your food labels for any new to you ingredients or new foods you added and remove them. it can take a week or more for your body to cleasr up one the offending food is removed. then reintroduce it a little bit and see if you have any reaction if so put that away and avoid it.

give chapter 14 of your dandr and chapter 26 a rereading.

                              Re: 8 weeks in...

I'm at an even 160 right now (and been on the diet for 4 months)

and Yeah I probably shouldn't even be posting on this thread anymore as I'm not in induction anymore...but oh well. I've been getting more fiber through flaxseed and vegetables so I'm hoping the weightloss will fix itself. Thankfully I haven't thought about cheating at all.

I fit into a size 12 pant now. Too exciting for words really. I'm assuming that I'm losing inches instead of pounds right now, because I'm in a smaller pant size then when I was in school and I weighed less then.

The 145 in my sig line is really my first goal--it's the weight I remember weighing in school and actually feeling okay about myself. My final goal is actually closer to 130-135lbs.

Sorry this post was a bit of a ramble--whoever kept up and understood it, I'm quite impressed.
