  • Restarted Induction Yesterday - energy question.

    Hello,

I restarted induction yesterday after about a year off of atkins. My question is, I would like to also take like a Stacker or another energy pill. The only reason being is my energy level is down. Will this hurt my progress with Atkins??

    Thank you,

    Kelly

I would suggest highly against taking the Stacker. The worst thing it could do is help you and then make dependent either directly or subconsciously on it. The energy highs and lows can also cause your blood sugar levels to go haywire. Rest assured, the lack of energy in the beginning during Induction is natural. It goes away as your body gets used burning fats for energy.

Re: Restarted Induction Yesterday - energy question.

Playing the Devil's advocate here, I have to say that when I started Atkins a little more than 5 years ago, I definitely used an energy supplement. I used TwinLab Diet Fuel. It wasn't near as strong as a Stacker, which I could NEVER take unless I wanted to go to the moon and back.

I had astounding success with Atkins while using Diet Fuel, but that is just me. I'm not using anything like that this time and it's coming off almost as fast as it did then. The weight didn't come back, either, after I stopped taking the supplement. I kept it off for 5 years until recently. For me, it helped me maintain my energy levels through working out. I developed habits while using Diet Fuel that I easily kept after I stopped taking it. Things like naturally parking the car in the farthest spot from the store, always taking the stairs, not missing my workout appointment with my hubby, etc.

I personally believe that it can be a positive thing when used with good common sense. I took 1/4 the recommended dosage. There are opposing opinions and likely opposing results, but that was mine. =)

The lack of energy generally lasts for only a few days during the initial stages of Atkins. It has as much to do with bad carb withdrawal and blood sugar changes as it does with anything else. I'd forgo the pills and drink extra water and get some walking or other movement in. Before you know it, you'll have lots of energy.
