  • Did I mess up to bad(salad)

    This whole time I've thought I can have 2-3 cups of salad (lettuce, romaine ect)

    OR 1 cup of another veggie but 2 cups if its in lettuce form... like spinach leafs... now I reread and actually feel dumb because thats not what it meant.

    Did I set myself back alot?

    Can't believe I didn't read that right. /sigh lol

    grrrrRRRR

    Edit: so instead of having 2-3 cups of lettuce... I chose the spinach leafs... so I have not been getting my complete veggies

    Do you have a copy of DANDR 2002 Jellybee? Or at least a copy of the induction foods list? We are allowed 2 cups of salad veggies AND 1 cup of other veggies (from the list) OR we can have 3 cups of salad veggies. Salad veggies include lots of things besides lettuce. Actually lettuce is pretty low on the nutrition scale (although I do love it myself). Spinach is great! You can also have peppers, mushrooms, celery, radishes....tons of other things. It doesn't sound like you set yourself back at all. But try to eat a variety of veggies just so you get optimum nutrition and so you don't get bored.

      Thanks yah I have the book... I just think I was reading it wrong. Guess when something isn't listed I instantly think it's not on the "Good menu" If that makes sense. The Spinach I seen was under the 1 cup. But if it's in lettuce form I guess it means it's under the 2-3 cups? Sorry I get parinoid about these things. I like doing things right. lol

        the old book which the new book is a cut and paste of was 1 cup of cooked spinach so now you know why spinach was on the other 1 cup list.

        the new info is uncooked and Dr Atkins' place said abck in 03 it was a misprint and it would be fixed in the next printing to move spinach to the salad lists but that edition never happened with Dr Atkins death.

        I really wish y'all could have picked up the phone and ask his employes at his medical center about things you didn't underatand like that OWL typo of new food group for new foods in the 3 times a week part of OWL

          So.. I looked into getting an appointment with his second in command at his center.. since NYC is like, an hour train ride from my house, I felt it was doable. Yeah, 'cept the first appointment (all the exams) is $350, the second appointment (when you go over everything with Dr. Berkowitz) is $400 for the hour, and follow-ups are $200. Then I coulda asked him all the questions under the sun.

              lol sorry guys I confused the heck out of you. I guess I'll just buy romaine lettuce and have a cup of spinach kind and 2 cups of the other.

              I'd rather be doing it right somehow then no way at all.

                you do not have to eat lettuce at all. there are many veggies in the salad list that you cn hve instead if you don't like lettuce but yep it is a limit of 1 cup of spinache in DANDR till you get to OWL and then you get lots more as you get 5 net grams of it in rung one if you want.
