Re: a week and no change
Have you changed anything in your eating or exercise?
I know how discouraging it can be!! Since day one, I'll drop a few, get stuck (even gain sometimes) and then I'll drop again. Sometimes this would go on for a few days, a week, or for a few months. I just broke out of 3 month stall... It sucked! But I kept going and now I'm dropping again... You just have to stick with it.
If you haven't changed anything, give your body time to adjust... If you have then try changing your eating and continue to exercise... It will happen!

Re: a week and no change
Is there anything that can help break a stall? Like increasing excersise, or decrease carbs or anything?Mindy

Re: a week and no change
Technically a stall is when there is no movement on the scale or the tape measure for 6 weeks. A week is nothing when you're looking at the big picture. But I know it seems like a big deal right now. If you've recently lost a bit of weight then your body may be hesitating to let go of any more fat or water until it makes sure you aren't going into survival mode. A little extra exercise never hurts. Drink lots of water too to help flush things out. Have you checked your measurements? You may be shrinking but the scale isn't showing the loss. Or maybe you are building muscle and losing fat and it looks like nothing's happening on the scale. It's frustrating, I know, but don't get discouraged. Stick with your plan and one day soon you will probably be rewarded with a lovely whoosh! Moochiecat has a sticky somewhere called "Weightloss is not Linear". Maybe you should have a look at that too. Hang in there, you're doing great!Female, 46yrs, 5'3"

Re: a week and no change
Thanks, now that I think about it, yes a week really is too soon to worry. I guess when ya first get into atkins and in the first 2 weeks see that scale dropping every few days, you can get duscouraged when all of a sudden a week has gone by without it moving, yt another reason I see we are being told not to become scale slaves, lol.
Had i not weighed myself. Id never know it wasnt moving and have gotten discouraged. I better just stay off for a while. I am gonna try and weigh no more than once every 2 weeks. Although the best thing would probably be once a month.Mindy

Re: a week and no change
I agree with everything Lady said!
If you've hit a stall you can try to switch things up a bit, but that's never a guarantee, trust me!
Also, definitely stay off the scale if you can. The scale is evil... I'm one of those people who can not stay off. I've even had my hubby hide it from me once and with in a few hours I found it... it's sick really lol. But I've gotten discouraged somany times because the scale didn't budge in a day or even went up a pound or two. Had I not gotten on I never would have seen these (normal) fluctuations and I would have been a much happier loser!♥Started Atkins on December 8th, 2005

Re: a week and no change
Yes, it is normal. I agree with everything here. Just to be sure, I would analyze your diet. Have you tried anything new? Is carb creep slipping in? Maybe a new sauce at a restuarant? Just to be sure. But when you have satisfied yourself that there has not been an accidental "cheat", sit back and relax. It will happen.149.8/no weigh/ 119
