  • I need help to get through tomorrow!!

I've got a major problem tomorrow - well two problems really - firstly I'm helping out at a charity coffee morning at my neighbours house, and there's going to be lots and lots of homemade cakes there!!!! I've been soo good resisting up to now, I dont know what I'm going to do!!!

And secondly, I'm going to a wedding tomorrow evening with all my neighbours! I would have nominated myself to drive, but they've already organised a mini-bus to take us and pick us all up!! What would be the best alcohol to have if I must!!! Plus I heard they have arranged a chocolate fountain - you might find a picture of me with my head under it come saturday morning!! lol!!

I've already decided to go to the gym before the coffee morning, so it might make me more positive and not want to un-do any good work I would have done - if that makes sense!!

Any other suggestions?? - I know blinkers would be a good accessorie, but I dont think they stock them in marks and spencers!! hehe!!

Re: I need help to get through tomorrow!!

Do you have any pictures of you at your start weight or an image of your goal (maybe a bikini or some reward)? Bring them with you and glance at them every now and then. Also, maybe enlist the help of some friends who are going to be at the same function.

I went out for my birthday and told my girlfriends to not let me have more than two Michelob Ultras and if I got to where I wanted more that they were to flash me a pic of a pig that I brought in my purse It worked but I have to say that I now wish I hadn't even had the two.

The following afternoon after my night out I got on the scales and I had gained 5 lbs! I worked my but off for days (and drank an ocean) to get it off and it wasn't worth it because I felt so terrible when I got on those scales. It makes you feel like a failure and two beers wasn't worth that feeling.

My advice..........think about how much the beer or the cake really matter to you. In hindsight, the beer was no way worth it!

A bit late I know but you could make some 'legal' buns to take with you.

I often make these using the microwave flax bread recipe sweetened with splenda, and they allowed me on induction to eat something 'celebratory' along with others if I wanted to. Sweetened cream cheese makes a good icing too!

Also you can take some other legal snacks with you to nibble on if the temptation gets too strong.

As for the wedding and alcohol - not everyone drinks booze you know (LOL)!! If you dont want to let people know you are at a stage of your way of eating where it isnt 'allowed' you could invent the excuse of being on antibiotics or other medication that doesnt mix with alcohol, or even say you dont feel like drinking!

BTW no-one can tell if you are drinking sparkling water with ice and lemon or a G&T with ice and a slice unless you choose to tell them!!

Otherwise let your special friends know you are not drinking at present as you are concentrating on losing weight for now, and ask them to help you stay on the wagon. Dr Atkins told us to recruit our family and friends to help us stay strong.

Make sure you have some legal nibbles in your bag that you can eat instead of indulging in the chocolate fountain-fest and just enjoy the company of your friends rather than the eating part of the occasion. You can have the fun of dipping into the chocolate without eating what you dip but giving it to someone else!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Be sure to fill up on a good heathy meal before you go, that will help keep your appetite from adding to your challeges there. Be sure it has plenty of fat as well as protein and carbs. You will be full, and find cakes and such less interesting. Ditto the others on the snacks and drink look-alikes, too.

          Thanks soo much!!

Fantastic ideas - love the picture in my handbag idea, but you want to see the size of my handbag for tomorrow night - tiny!! lol! I'll have to keep them down my top! lol! I'm going to give the flax bread a go - I've got a pack of seeds in the kitchen.

All my friends know how hard I'm working to lose the weight - one of their husbands commented on my weight loss yesterday!! And men dont normally notice these things!! hehe!

I know I can resist the cakes, my parents are also going to be at the coffee morning, so I know mum will shout at me if she sees me with cake - I think I'll nominate myself as dishwasher - then at least my hands will always be in the sink and not my mouth!!

I'll let you all know how I go on!

Re: I need help to get through tomorrow!!

Easiest way for me to avoid cheating at a function is to let some of the people know upfront Im on atkins and going strong. I found that when I put that out there, its impossible for me to cheat. Just my personality but I cant fail in front of people if I can help it. And that I CAN help. also drinking a TON of water (more than normal) fills me up and I cant eat , haha.

Re: I need help to get through tomorrow!!

the morning coffee get together has the home made cakes - just imagine that when the people where baking them their dandruff flaked into the batter or they had a sinus infection that dripped down into it and is now swirling around in all that gooey goo.

As for the chocolate fountain - its out there in the open and all kinds of icky stuff can be "covered" in the chocolate. Hair. Booger flakes. Someones fake nails - a bandaid might have fallen in it.

Kinda turns your stomach doesn't it? good then its working (la la la)

As for the drinks - just stick to water or sparkling water and pretend its alcohol -

Have fun and stay strong - I know you can do it!

Re: I need help to get through tomorrow!!

Yes its worked for me - well for the coffee morning anyway - upto now I've been 100% perfect!!

I was at the gym at 8am, did my workout and came home and got ready to go out - we raised £170 at the coffee morning and I didnt touch a naughty thing!! Just a couple of mugs of water!!

Just the wedding to contend with now - I've just had a huge dinner so I wont need to eat later - so thats half the battle - I think the idea of finding a false nail in the choc fountain has totally put me off - lol!!!

I'll let you all know how I get on tomorrow

thanks so much for all your help everyone

Crisis over - I managed to survive!! lol!!

I never went to the buffet and I never even looked at the chocolate fountain!! Luckily they had bottles of water on the tables so I drank plenty of that!

Plus I did lots of dancing so I was a pound lighter this morning on the scales - yippee!!

thanks for all your advice everyone - I really really helped
