today ends it, I just hope I don't regain a lot of weight. Not that I went all out either, I guess I just did the diet half-arsed.

Re: Gah, this was like a cheat week for me...
First, I am glad you made the determination that it is over. Being resolved to fix our mistakes is certainly the first step. My question would be why this week. What made this week the cheat week? Was there something that led to it or some plan that could have made it quit sooner? Were you craving something that Induction wasn't providing? The reason I ask is that figuring out the why might prevent it from happening again.Kent - 35-M-6'4"

Re: Gah, this was like a cheat week for me...
I'm in college and our dining hall has everything, ice cream, cake, soda, you name it, they have it. I started in June and didn't cheat untilt his week. My friends went and got milkshakes so I said screw it and got myself some sherbert, later on ate pizza, more ice cream, and birthday cake. Then today I came home to visit and I just had to eat the homecooked meal

it sucks that you gave in. to be honest with you, being exposed to constant cravings just made me stronger. think about it, if you can just have a piece of cake in front of you and just tell yourself not to eat it (even though everyone else is) it's possible. the more often you say no or don't give in the easier it gets. sometimes we just need a "stop and think moment" before we put something in our mouths. when it comes to eating bad food i think there is a time and place of when to do it. just be responsible and take actions to not make the same mistake.23 y/o male 5ft 7in 15 inch neck 30.5 inch waist

Re: Gah, this was like a cheat week for me...
Congratulations on making the decision to get back on track before it was too late. We're here for you all the way.
My suggestion would be to write out your goals, make plans to succeed and ALWAYS be prepared to face the temptations with a plan that will keep you from falling from your WOE. I have a small photo book that I carry in my purse with pictures of me before I started Atkins. When I have any temptation, one look at the photos convinces me that it isn't worth it.Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

Re: Gah, this was like a cheat week for me...
Whever I have felt that I was going to cheat, I've filled up two big glasses of water and drank both of them then looked at a picture of myself now and a picture of myself years ago when I was an itty bitty thing and that usually cures it for me!!!
I wouldn't beat myself up over the cheating. For myself, that got me here in the first place as I've always had an unhealthy relationship with food. I would eat and then feel terrible and then punish myself by not eating and I had to break that cycle.
You shouldn't have to feel ashamed or guilty or anything else for that matter over food. So you had a momentary lapse from Atkins and tripped up, you get up and dust yourself off and start again.
You know that it wasn't in your best interest if you want to succeed and loose weight and that's the important part. You realized what you did and you don't want to do it again, right?
Now you just find a motivational tool (like I have with my pictures) that works for you so you don't do it again.

Don't give up! Just get back on track again. The bad thing about the dining commons is that yes, they do have cake, ice cream, pasta, and fries every night, but the GOOD thing is they usually have full salad bars, boiled eggs, lunch meats, and other good stuff for you and it's ALL FREE! Ok, not exactly free, since you had to pay a ridiculous amount with your room and board, but it's not an out-of-pocket expense everyday.
I was on atkins in college, too, and I just had to make my food choices work with my schedule and budget. Don't beat yourself up about eating that ice cream, etc. Just get right back into it and try your best
