Rungs - do I have to do them all?

  • Rungs - do I have to do them all?

    When I get to OWL - do I have to do all the rungs? Two concern me. First, nuts don't agree with me. Maybe I can eat seeds. Second, isn't there a rung for alcohol? Cause I don't drink.

    No, you do not have to do all the rungs, just the ones that would pertain to you. If you do not drink alcohol I don't think anyone wants you to start just to see how it would affect you. The same goes for nuts but you may want to reconsider nuts as a good treat, I have never been a peanut person and now since coming back to
    Atkins find myself eating them at least 3 times a week.

      Yes, you *MUST* go get some cashews and eat them with your vodka!!

        you can skip any rung you do not plan to have those foods as a part of your permant way of eating.

        many of us skipped the alcohol rung and Dr Atkins talks in his Atkins For Life book about doing away with that rung since alcohol has no nutritional value. Would you have loved to see the 2012 version of DANDR he had planned.

          I'm glad I don't have to drink to stick to the plan. I can just see trying to explain that to my husband. I don't think he's seen me drink in about 5 years!

          Maybe when I get that far, I will try peanuts or walnuts. I do like them...but in the past they haven't liked me so much. Of course I've been changing my whole way of eating so that may not be the case anymore. I'll definately give it a go when the time comes.
