  • Another lesson learned

I learned a most valuable lesson last night...

I have known for weeks that I was going ot be going to a pig roast last night at a friends house. I've been painstakingly planning my outings since I've started Atkins so I don't set myself up to cheat. For some reason...this time I wasn't so worried about it. I guess I thought that since I'd been cheat free for three whole weeks that it would be easy for me to stick to it. I made deviled eggs to take and knew that I could eat the pork. For some silly reason, I assumed that someone would bring a veggie tray or something that I could eat from.

What a dumb thing for me to assume. Other people aren't on Atkins...so why in the world would they prepare dishes that are Atkins friendly?

Anyway, I didn't end up cheating...I realized very quickly that eggs and pork were the only legal things in sight and ran off to the store to get some legal salad for myself. BUT...I learned that planning CAN NOT be underestimated in this WOE. I also learned that just because I haven't cheated in 3 weeks doesn't mean that I won't be tempted to do so anymore.

    Won't make that mistake again!

Great post and it points out that even if we plan for those emergenies sometimes they just don't happen and we need to improvise and go to plan B.
