  • No Weigh Challenge - I'm a big loser :-)

    Hi all -

I joined the no weigh challenge and it was so hard as I am a slave to my scales. Well it ended today so I hadn't been on a scale for two whole weeks!!!

I was very nervous as I felt that I hadn't been loosing so when I got on the scales this morning I was braced for the worst - maybe even having gained weight.

Well, I was so suprised to see that I had lost 6 lbs in the two weeks that I'd been on the no weigh challenge so my total weight loss is now 27 lbs!!!!

I have never lost this much weight in such little time and have not had to go hungry or feel deprived.

So I feel like a big loser today and I'm smiling from ear to ear.

I think what did it for me is that I upped my water intake and joined an informal water challenge and I am making sure that my fat intake is kept up. I noticed, for me, that eating lean meats and hardly any fat didn't make the scale move. I don't skip meals and normally eat 6 times a day - another Atkins plus! I eat all my veggies and monitor my cheese and splenda intake daily. It just goes to prove that if you follow this woe as it's spelled out in the book, you can be successful.

I also think that the no weigh challenge was good for me and I'm ready to join another one if anyone is starting one.

And last, but certainly not least, is - there's so much information and support here that you can't help but be a big loser!!!

Re: No Weigh Challenge - I'm a big loser

Thank you all - it's so weird to expect to see no loss or maybe even a gain and then to see 6 lbs gone in two weeks and pretty much effortlessly.

Now that's not to say that Atkins isn't hard at times (the work, for me, is more about self control than anything else) but I get to eat on Atkins and it's food that i like so there's not the same effort as some other way of eating where you really have to give up so much and eat nothing but lettuce.

I really love doing Atkins and it's such a nice suprise to get a woosh, of sorts, especially when you really dread getting on the scales.

The one question I have for the more experienced Atkins group is when will I see some major changes? I mean, I've lost 27 lbs and my clothes feel a bit looser but I haven't had to go down a size or anything and no one has really said, hey you look different except for my husband who was standing behind me today and said my butt was disappearing (which isn't a bad thing) .

Also, I started August 14th which makes tomorrow the 10 week mark for me - am I losing at a good pace or should I have seen more of a loss by now? What's typical weight loss at this point? If I should have seen more of a loss then I need to step it up a bit but if I'm doing okay then I'll continue with the course that I'm on.

I guess with Atkins, as with any weight loss, you wonder if you're doing okay because you don't know what's typical.

Re: No Weigh Challenge - I'm a big loser

Nobody really commented on my weight loss until I dropped about 35 lbs... then all of a sudden, everyone did. Reckon it depends on how much you have to lose, how tall you are, whether you wear baggy clothes... that sort of thing.

A 27lb loss in ten weeks sounds just great to me!
                    Happy further losing!

Congratulations! I have now lost twenty pounds but only one person noticed and that was because I pointed it out so it does not count. Let's keep going until they can't help but notice!!!!

Re: No Weigh Challenge - I'm a big loser

congrats the speed of lose will depend on how hard you work your Atkins both the eating and exerciser part and your metabolism but at 2.7 pounds a week you are going great you know you didn't gain it at that rate.

Remeber this isn't a sprint to goal weight this is a life long marathon of health eating to become the healthier smaller person you can be so you and hubby can grow old together enjoying your lives.

it took almost 80 pounds before anybody said anything to me but then a whole flock spoke up seems they thought I was ill to lose so much weight and didn't want to comment on it.
