    Re: stalls

    Hi

    Its probably the atkins bars!!!

I have little stalls, but my weight is coming off slowly. Each week I lose about a pound - which I'm really happy with, and I do have the occasional coffee!!

Give up the bars for a week and see how your weight goes

    good luck

If you think its the Atkins bars, it probably is. What not just get rid of the from your diet and see what happens?

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

        Re: stalls

Why not try another two weeks of clean induction. Just like you did in the beginning, which means no bars. If it isn't on the acceptable list, don't eat it. That might give you a boost and get you back into the burn zone and you'll see the scales start to move again. Also, make sure you're drinking all your water. When I don't, I have a bit of a stall.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you did?

I'm stuck at 180. I've been there for a little over a week now (maybe less). Maybe try giving up the Atkins bars and going back to a very clean Induction. This is what I'm doing, and so far nothing. I haven't taken my measurements yet, but I feel smaller. Are you working out? I've read a few peopl epn here that said that working out kicked them right out of their stall. You alos may have a yeast problem. Try the spit test. Good luck and hang in there!

I find that if I have a chocolate craving I can satisfy it by whipping some heavy cream, adding unsweetened cocoa and splenda. It makes a nice mousse and it satisfys that need to eat the chocolate bars.

              Re: stalls

thanks for the tips. i am still in this damn stall. infact i weighed myself today and i actually gained 1 lb. i am addicted to the scale and unfortunatly it determins my mood for the day. IT SUCKS!!! I am gonna do a clean induction and also i am gonna start to run. the other thing i am worried about is putting on weight when i start running because muscle weighs more then fat. I have a bet with my uncle to lose another 20 and he will give me $100. i want to aim for Christmas. By the rate i am going it doesnt look to good. What do you think is this realistic goal? Also what about green tea or decaf coffee would this be causing the stall. My ketos sticks are extrem dark purple. I just dont understand. What is the spit test for yeast????

Muscle DOESN't weigh more than fat--5lb. is 5lb. whether it's gold or feathers, fat or muscle. Muscle is more dense, meaning that the same amount takes up less space. Yes you will prob build muscle if you begin running, but running uses BIG MAJOR muscles, which burn more calories than other types of workouts not involving major muscle groups. Also, the more muscle you have, the more active tissue you've got--meaning just to keep it, the tissue burns calories to maintain itself. Fat doesn't burn anything, it just sits there!

If I were a wagering type of girl, I'd bet that you're not getting nearly enough water. If you were, your ketostix would be a light purple or even light pink as the ketones would be diluted. I upped my water from 64 oz to well over 100 oz and my stall completely broke and I went down 5 lbs in one week.

                      Re: stalls

Also, with running, you're not going to build muscle - not even lean muscle - by simply running. If you're using a machine for cardio, you can up the resistance/slope in order to achieve both aspects of fat burning and lean muscle, but simply jogging on a level field isn't going to do anything but burn fat. Resistance training is important when you're on any diet and especially a diet such as Atkins where you are going to lose weight abnormally quicker as compared to most other diets. If you don't use your muscle, you'll lose it.

If you wanna build or maintain muscle while simply running, you may want to try out some wrist or ankle weights, or you can do sprint sessions where you just sprint as hard as you can, walk it off, and sprint again. Another big thing you can work on is getting in the habit of tightening your abs as you do your cardio as it will help out tremendously.

The clip below was taken from a previous post. It explains the spit test.

First off, first thing in the morning before you eat or drink, spit into a clear glass of water....keep checking every few minutes to see if yur saliva becomes cloudy or starts forming legs to the bottom of the glass. if it does you have yeast in your body. If it stays clear and floats on top of the water you are yeast free. Well, our saliva was definitely yeast positve.
