I have a friend from high school that I meet once a month at our favorite Chinese restaurant to catch up. I LOVE all kinds of Chinese food, but what can I order that will be Induction legal. I haven't had any carbs at all so far today, could I cut extra ones at lunch and eat some kind of Chinese tonight? ANY suggestions will be appreciated!

Chinese is hard because most everything is covered in batter and fried, and smeared in some kind of sugary sauce. Maybe you can get sauteed meat and vegetables with no sauce, then just add soy sauce if you wanted. It's sometimes hard to special order anything at a chinese restaurant because of the language barrier.

I agree with Miss Phode.
I ate out at a Chinese Restaurant this past weekend. I ordered steamed veggies and chicken with no sauces. However, since it lacked any kind of fat, I was starving a couple of hours later.
If you decide to go this route like I did, make sure you eat some fat with your meal, bring along some cheese or something like that.
btw, it was extremely difficult for me to watch my family eat all of my "old favorites", while I sat there eating my meal. But, that's just me.

Dr. Atkins said egg drop soup is ok...although sometimes I wonder because they add a thickener. Never had a problem with it though! Just be sure not to eat the fried noodles.
He also said egg foo young was a choice...but I don't remember what's in it. Maybe someone here can tell you?~Lisa

Maybe you could ask your friend if she wouldn't mind changing the venue, and find another restaurant in your area that would be ok to eat at - then you would still both enjoy your food.

Yep... Chinese is hard. I think you just have to ask them to leave out the cornstarch for you, and of course avoid sugary and batter covered things. Maybe eat somethng high fat before you go, and be sure to take something legal in case the restaurant can't do what you want.

What about a combination omlette? You can ask them to leave out the milk, or add cream instead.. That way you get your fat plus protein!

If this is more of a buffet-type place, or even not, usually the beef and broccoli is sauce-free and seems to be the lowest-carb thing I can find. I load up on that, or just any dish with meat and veggies that has no sauce. Chinese sauces use corn starch as a thickener in them, so even if it doesn't taste sweet, it may not be safe. Some of the fancier buffets have shrimp cocktail too, so that's something else.
I'm not sure if the egg drop soup also has corn starch in it, I would ask, but if not that would be good too.

Hope my answer doesn't come too late as this thread was started weeks ago.
I ate in a chinese restaurant last night and it was yummy and very induction-friendly. I simply made my selection from the hibachi grill!
I filled my plate with shrimp, snow peas, bean sprouts, broccoli and asked that the hibachi chef not add any of the fancy (sweet) sauces, simply oil or butter. It was scrumptous!
