  • Carb Counting Question

I was just wondering about how many carbs you guys count these items at (most of them say 0 on the package, but maybe should be counted as more):

Eggs - I've been counting these as 1 carb ea.
Whipping Cream (35%) - I've been counting as 1 carb per Tbsp
Cheese - Most say 0 on package, but have been counting as 1 carb per ounce (unless otherwise stated)
Splenda - been counting as 1g
Instant Coffee - Been counting as 0g, except for flavored which says it has 1g

Is this about right, I don't over indulge on these things anymore, but I'm still finding it hard to get all my veggies in and stay below 20g carbs.

      Re: Carb Counting Question

Those numbers seem pretty close to accurate as far as I know. It looks like you may have even rounded up a little on some.

Good idea to round up; the government allows labeling to say 0 grams per serving if a seving has .49 grams or less.

Are you remembering to subtract the grams of fiber from your total for carbohydrates?

                  Re: Carb Counting Question

Tracie, YES subtract the fiber. Fiber (a carbohydrate) passes through your body undigested/unabsorbed, thus not impacting your blood sugar. So, you get to subtract them. YAY!

Plus, you want to look for veggies that have higher fiber, because as they pass through your system, they clean you out, keep things moving so to speak.

As the others have said, your counts seem about right if not a little on the cautious side.
I noticed you are about 10 pounds from goal, so it might be a good time to start on rung one of OWL and be adding 5 net carbs more veggies anyway!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
