So Sunday marked the end of my fourth week on induction. I am very disappointed because I have only lost between 7 and 8 pounds. In a month- I am so sad. I re-measured, and I have only lost 1-2 inches as well. What gives? Has anybody else lost that little in a MONTH??? I have been totally clean for the past two weeks, no bars, no caffeine (the first two weeks I have diet sodas with caffeine and Atkins bars). What is WRONG with me?????
I am starting a meat fast this week to see if I can break this crazy stall. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do or eat to lose weight more quickly? I have been drinking 80 ounces of water daily; would drinking more water help? I am really at my wits end about this. I am not weighing in until next Sunday, but if I STILL haven't lost any more I feel like I am going to be feeling really depressed over the Thanksgiving holidays. Help me if you can!

    Re: Disappointed

With only 50 lbs to loose 2lbs a week is great. I would have a party to do the happy dance if I lost that fast.
Drinking more water will help. The big question is do you exercise?

      Re: Disappointed

Laurenfra really said it all. Truth is, heavier people lose faster. You have lost, during your four weeks of induction, 13% of the amount you want to lose. I lost a little over 15 pounds in the first eight weeks, which is about 17%. At this rate, you are actually losing fast than I am. Cheer up! Think of how much 7-8 pounds is, after all. That's like... a gallon of milk. Go pick up a gallon of milk. That much weight is missing from your body! Celebrate, don't frown!

And, like Laurenfra said, the best way to ramp up your weight loss is the exercise more. I'd do that before I started fasting.

Good luck! Hope you break the stall!

I actually felt that way too. When I restarted Atkins I was expecting to lose as fast as other but unfortunately everyone is different, some people lose faster than others.

But now I am 23lbs down from my restart weight and I am so happy. I guess what I am trying to say is be happy at the pace that you are going and always look at your progress as a glass half full cause any weight loss is better than no weight loss. Just remember that good things come to those who wait. So just keep at it and dont give up. Trust me the weight will come off when its ready

Statistically you're doing fine! It's true that the less you have to lose, the slower the pounds disappear. Try to think in terms of direction, not speed. I know it seems slow to you at the moment, but once you've got to goal you'll feel that the time passed in a flash.
Hang in there... if you keep eating as Dr A prescribed (and avoid the bars etc.), the weight will go.

              Re: Disappointed

Don't do a meat fast--Atkins is not about high-protein, it's about high-fat. Adding extra protein to your diet will cause an excess, which actually turns to glucose--which is not what you want. Those who are metabolically resistant are encouraged to go on a fat-fast, but only for a couple days can they do this safely--and this is for people who are NOT losing any weight at all. You are not technically stalled either--a stall is 4 weeks without inches or pounds lost. After a few weeks in, your body wants to hang on to extra weight--keep up with the program, keep drinking the water, and this shall pass.

You have lost 8lb. which is fabulous! Remember that everyone is different, and if you have less weight to lose, you will lose less weight to begin with.

Let's check some things. Are you drinking AT LEAST 64oz. of water daily? It's best to drink over the minimum--water helps flush the fat out! No joke.

Are you exercising regularly, at least 3 times a week? If you aren't, then you MUST start. If you are exercising, then perhaps your lack of "weight" loss is actually due to fat converting to muscle--muscle is more dense, so that means, although it can weigh the same amount, it takes up less room--hence the fact you're losing inches.

Perhaps your body is telling you to move to OWL--you can reintroduce veggies, dairy, nuts, etc. and have more food choices. This could help "jump start" your body. People freak out about not losing as much on OWL, but this is not true--I've actually been losing more regularly on OWL than induction--at least 3lb. per week.

                Aparmour,

Raising my hand! I have lost very slowly, in 9 weeks I have lost 14lbs. 6 of which I lost only this past week. but I have stuggled with 3 weeks and no loss. I know how you feel. I know I felt awful, horrible , depressed, angry, and I was on the verge of giving up! did I say how bad I felt? But take it from me don't give up! I did! listen to the wonderful people that told me not to give up, and bam! I gave up the shake, and almost immediately started to drop the weight! Oh and I also walked more than before.

Look over you menu and see if there is something like too much cheese or something that is causing you to stall. With me it was the whey shakes I was drinking instead of having food for breakfast. Believe it when they say something that may not cause another to stall can stall you. Sending you loads of hugs, and sending you strength to keep you going.

                  Re: Disappointed

I am sorry- I left out- I drink at LEAST 80oz of water per day, and I have exercised 13 hours the past month. I am going to try to increase it this month to 5 days a week. Today is the first day, so cross your fingers that I have time (it is my sister's birthday). Thanks for the support. The meat/fat fast is the modified Atkins version of the Ketwick diet. I have two devilled eggs, chicken salad, and more protein and fat for dinner. It is basically just protein and fat with no carbs to break a stall. That is what it says to do in the book. Do you think that it is too early to start worrying?

Atkins modified the Kelwick Diet and called it the Fat Fast.

You might want to read this link below to see if you qualify for the Fat Fast according to what's written in the book:

yes I dio think it is too early! you lost 13.6% of the fat you had to lose this would be about 20 pounds fro a supoer heavy weight like me and considering you only exercises 13 hours ofr the whole time you did great.

you need to compare your pounds lost to your total to need to lose pounds. if you cut to the fast you will be deleting your already depleted body of neded vits and minerals. instead move to OWL rung one and add more veggies your weight loss might just supriz you there.

                        Hi

Your losing weight and not putting it on - so you must be doing something right!! hehe!

Have you thought about signing up for one of the exercise challenges? I know my weight loss was very slow at the begining, but since I've been doing the six week challenge, it really is falling off me - plus I'm losing inches too! I've also had lots of people tell me how good I'm looking since starting the challenge!!

The next challenge starts this coming Sunday - why not give it a try. I've already signed up for the next one!

                        good luck
