  • I'm Going BACK..... Have u Ever?

i truly think that i need to go back into Induction... i went thru Induction fairly well... (((I HAVE A EXTREMELY HIGHT METABOLIC RESISTANCE -due to PREMPRO - HRT))) I lost 5.5lbs... then last week i lost only a 1/2 pound on OWL eating more veggies (only legal ones)... this week im on the dairy rung... (had a little cottage cheese & SAT had some Hot Cocoa using Cream & Splenda & Cocoa Powder for my (((TOM))) but i think i need to slow back down... it just doesn't feel the same... not as good as it did when i was on Induction, so i want to Go Back for a while longer... i dont know if its my HRT throwing me out of whack or what... i mean i FEEL GREAT Health Wise... i just dont feel The Same... so just to be safe... and keep myself On The Right Track... i Want To Go Back... ANYONE ELSE EVER GONE BACK LIKE THIS BEFORE??? AND IF YOU DID - WHY??? i would LOVE to hear all the good stories and any Tips anyone can give to me right now... Thanks in Advance Guys!!! Lili...

Typically, we don't advise it because it's usually an OWL food that causes the hiccup, not the entire OWL phase. Once that food is identified, then it's smooth OWL sailing.

You'll have to look through the book and figure out what your degree of metabolic resistance is based on your 14 day Induction loss. Then you can estimate what your CCLL will be.

Again, look at the foods you added and how much you added. Alot of times I see OWL newbies adding 7 or 10 net carbs of Induction veggies OR they begin eating more legal foods, like adding more fat or increasing their protein intake. On OWL, you eat slightly lower amounts of added fat than you did during Induction.

Re: I'm Going BACK..... Have u Ever?

I went back and re-did induction because I did NOT do a clean induction the first time, and I wanted to get my body on the right track--I was having issues with portion control, cravings, etc. I did induction again for the two weeks and cleaned my system of caffiene, frankenfoods, cravings, and began measuring carefully my cheese and veggie amounts--I had been a little careless in the past. I know they say not to go back to induction, just to step down a rung, but I was so unstructured that I couldn't have just eliminated a food or gone down a rung.

How long have you been on Atkins, and how long on OWL? If you haven't been drinking caffiene or eating bars/shakes, I'd just go back to the veggie rung and sort it all out. Only eat a new food 3 times a week for the first week...if it doesn't give you problems, then you can eat it regularly. This way you can check for food sensitivities, allergies, insulin spikes, etc.

Thanks Guys!!! i have been doing Atkins for 26 days today... my Induction was Not Perfect, but i did not cheat at all...! as for Caffiene... i DO drink 1 cup of coffee every morning, but its Decaf Only... No Soda, No Bars, No Shakes... this is my 2nd week in OWL... MAYBE I WILL JUST GO BACK TO THE VEGGIE RUNG & SEE IF I FEEL BETTER... and i will definitely start carefully measuring my Veggies & Cheese... WISH ME LUCK!!! and thanks again guys!!! you guys are my lifeline... I truly do appreciate your Opinions...!!!

          Hi Mslili!

If you have particularly high metabolic resistance, I would suggest moving up the OWL rungs very slowly - for example move onto the veggie rung and stay there for a month, asses your progress and if all is fine you'll know none of the foods you are eating are a problem for you, then onto the next for a month and so on. I think this will give you greater control, keep things interesting and identify any foods that may react badly with you.

          Good luck, Kay

Re: I'm Going BACK..... Have u Ever?

I think you should just go at a snail's pace in OWL. Take your time trying out each new food and finding out how your body reacts to it. OWL is a balancing act of proteins, fats and very gradually more carbs. The important thing is direction, rather than speed.
