  • Thanksgiving

Hi everybody! I just have a few questions. First of all, I have FINALLY lost 10 pounds. I am happy with the loss, but I really want to speed things up a little more. Any suggestions? I work out 5-6 days a week for an hour per day- is this too much? This is a big week for food, since it is Thanksgiving and all...so what should I eat at Thanksgiving dinner? I am having it at my house this year, and I don't want to cheat...well, I really DO want to cheat, but I won't, or at least not too badly. I am thinking I am going to have turkey, green beans, squash casserole (low carb, of course) and I was thinking of having some pumpkin pie with a pecan crust for dessert. What do you think? Any ideas for foods I can eat? Any good recipes to share? Any tips to help my weight loss? Thanks for the support and help.

You need to eat at thanksgiving cause its important to maintain tradition. Your menu sounds fine

Your menu sounds fine--I'm assuming you're on extended induction or the nuts rung, if you're having a pecan crust.

Just make sure you stay hydrated and watch your portions--that's what I'm a bit nervous about, because I could eat about 7 pounds of turkey if you let me...ok that's an exaggeration, but I do have an issue controlling turkey portions.

Eat on a smaller plate (it tricks the eye into thinking you have more food), enjoy your food by not rushing (eat leisurely), and if you still feel hungry, have a glass of water and wait 20 minutes--it takes that long for the brain to realize the body is full.

Oooh and enjoy that pumpkin pie...make some fresh whipped cream to go with it!

I have a hard time making fresh whipped cream- I tried to the other night, but I couldn't get it to whip right. How do you do it correctly? I know it is a dumb question, but I have always just used cool whip.

Make sure the cream is real cold. You should put your bowl and beaters from the mixer in the freezer for a few minutes. That always works for me.

            Hi!
I just had to comment on your how to whip your own cream. One trick i usually do is put the glass bowl, and the beaters in the freezer before i whip. It helps! Good Luck!

              Hey Ashley,
I put heavy whipping cream into a bowel turn on the beaters and don't let up until you get stiff peaks...I add spenda to it, and just whip away...electric beaters...within 30 seconds the consistency begins to change and after a minute or two you'll be there...
