  • To use PB or not to use PB?

I feel like this a dumb question to ask and yes, I have read the book, but I'm about to get into OWL within the next two days and I was wondering if I should wait to use peanut butter until the nut rung since it's made of nuts or if it would be alright to have it as long as I stay within my carb intake? Thanks!

Best to leave it until the nut rung I think!!

Technically, it's a legume, but don't rush it. Stick with the rungs as written, for best results.

When you DO get to the appropriate rung, make sure it's unsweetened/natural peanut butter. The stuff with added sugar causes MAD cravings...and besides, the natural stuff is healthier.

Yes, wait at least until the nut rung. I used low carb PB for a while, but it's really sweet. I found that the SKippy natural PB has the same carb levels, no sweeteners, less calories, and tastes almost like regular PB except a tad saltier. It also DOES NOT have that nasty oil layer on top and doesn't need stirring.

If it dosen't have the "nasty oil" it probably has trans fats.

I'll check the label, but I don't think it does. I think I noticed a label about it being trans-fat free. I'll double check. To be honest, I wouldn't really care too much anyway. I eat about one tablespoon every other week or so.

Edited...Nope, no trans fats. They use palm oil instead, to eliminate the layer of oil. Here's the nutritional info:

I could not find a list of ingredients. The claim of 0 grams trans fat per serving actually means less than 0.5 grams per 2 tbsp. But I'm going to check that at my supermarket. I may want to switch to this brand.
