  • 54 days to go....

Well I promised myself I'd do 2 months of Atkins Induction (I have alot of weight to lose). Today is day 6 and finally I woke up and didn't have a headache ...that was a long week!!!
I have a couple of questions....if anyone can help me...is is terrible to eat bacon that is NOT nitrate free?
I think I'm doing pretty good....haven't strayed off the program but don't really feel that boost of evergy people are talking about...waiting for THAT to kick in...
Yesterday I was so tired and sore (been walking a mile every night) that all I could do was take a hot shower and go to bed!!

I live in a small town, and have never been able to FIND nitrate-free bacon. It won't derail your progress neccessarily, nitrates are just an unhealthy additive that we should be staying away from. However, I only eat bacon a couple times a week, so my intake is very minimal.

I am glad that headache has finally gone away

And well done for getting those walks done too - you were right not to push things if you are not feeling up to it. I am sure the early bedtime did you good.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Just FYI, I can find nitrate free, sugar free bacon at Harris Teeter, but it is pricey - $5 a pack. But boy is it good!!! For the most part I don't worry about the nitrates too bad, I don't have bacon too often. I normally try to get low sodium or sugar free. I think Wal-Mart carries a brand that is sugar free.

Glad you're feeling better. Induction flu can be horrid. I live in Italy and over here I've never found nitrate bacon anywhere. So... I eat the normal stuff. I don't eat it often though. It's never made any difference to me. I read somewhere that there's new thinking on the nitrate issue...maybe it isn't as bad as was once thought...but afraid I can't for the life of me remember where I saw that.
