  • distructive temptations!

Ok, so heres my thought. My mind so wants me to give in to the temptations that i'm surrounded with, but i'm trying so hard to avoid the places and all the temptations by reminding myself that i'm no different then anyone else who is struggling with a weight issue. I just have to outplay my mind. Its a huge battle, but i can do it. UGH!!!
I have been on the induction phase for three weeks and very disappointed with the progress that i've made. (according to the scale) So, when i went to have a salad for dinner, i had a bowl of chilli right beside it. I gave into the game of temptation and it one. I am very disappointed with myself. I feel horrible. I feel as if i'm guilty for a horrible crime and now im confessing!! (id never make a good criminal)
I guess what i'm wondering is if anyone else has given in to the temptations and did it destroy the entire induction phase for you? I mean, did that bowl of chilli set me back so much that all my hard work over the last three weeks just get tossed away?????
I can do this! But, why do i feel like it's not working for me?

    Re: distructive temptations!

Just get back on plan with the next bite. Don't wait for tomorrow or the next meal. Start immediately, drink some water, clear your head.

Did you eat the chili because it was there and "forbidden," or did you eat it because you love chili? Certain chili recipes might be legal for you--check out the recipes forum. As long as it's not thickened with something illegal and it has no beans, it should be acceptable for induction or at least rung 1 of OWL.

You've been on induction 3 weeks and say you haven't lost. Are you eating your veggies? Are you still drinking coffee/sodas which can stall you? Are you overdoing your splenda or cream allowances? Are you exercising? Exercise can cause fat to be replaced with muscle, meaning your body becomes smaller and leaner but this may not register on the scale as a "weight" change.

Have you taken measurements? Do your clothes fit better? There are many indicators that Atkins is working besides numbers on a scale. Are you energetic? Do you feel better and healthier? If the answers are "yes" the plan is working!

Stick with it, don't give up. I would suggest moving on to OWL Rung 1, Veggies. This means you can add another serving of veggies per day, and things like no-bean chili would be a perfectly legal and acceptable food for you! Check out the stickies in the OWL forum, and re-read the OWL chapters of DANDR.

      I really appreciate your reply.
I ate that bowl of chilli, because i didn't feel content after the salad i had and because i was upset because i thought i would've done better three weeks into the induction. I was just simply having a pity party for myself.
I will say this, when i had to get up to feed my baby in the middle of the night, i felt like crap. I was restless and uncomfortable and i clearly blame that on the carbs that i had eaten in that chilli. (it was definately a chilli that is NOT on induction plan) That certainly was an awakening for me. I didn't like that feeling and i don't want to feel that again. So, perhaps it was a good thing that i did what i did. Who knows.
I am back on the plan again, and i'm not going to look back.
Thanks so much for your suggestions and encouragment.
