First things first, happy birthday to you!
Now, i see you said that you aren't gonna "go mad" if you don't taste the cake. Sounds like you already know you are stronger than you're giving yourself credit for! Set you mind to it and commit. There are many induction friendly desserts that you can make and enjoy for your birthday, I suggest opting for one of these. Keep yourself on plan, and you will have two reasons to celebrate!

Happy Birthday Ovadiva! Two of a kind here... Don't know what to tell you about the cake other than you need to decide what's more important to you....the cake or your commitment to losing the weight. If you were in OWL or maintenance you'd have lots of options for more Atkins-friendly cakes. I know that "just wait til next year" isn't very comforting.

        Happy Birthday

It's a tough one - I think the others are right though. It sounds like you can tough it out, and once you've down that, no other 'illegal' food will stand a chance

why not make up a serving of cream cheese, splenda and cocoa powder and have that as a substitue cake!!! I'm sure it will be better than having nothing and driving yourself mad!!! lol

I hope you have a great birthday

            Happy Birthday to you!

I started Atkins for the first time in 2003 a couple of months before my birthday...I haven't had a "birthday cake" since. Even the intervening couple of years when I was clearly NOT doing Atkins, I never went back to having one after that first year of not having one. Like you said, it's a tradition - but there is nothing at all wrong with making new "traditions." We (you) can still have the same celebration without a hunk of sugar that might send you into a downward spiral of a carbfest...I think it's all about how you think about it. 99% of this WOE is between the ears and has very little to do with the tummy! Best wishes for a great day whatever you end up doing!

It all boils down to this. Which is more important to you? Because every day there is going to be SOMETHING. Just one chip, just a piece of fruit, just a bite of cake, just a donut, just a bagel. Today is birthday, anniversary, coworkers birthday, bosses birthday, mom's birthday, dads birthday, boyfriend's birthday, valentines day, christmas, thanksgiving, halloween...BLAH BLAH BLAH and you can be left at the end of the year with a few pounds of EXCUSE CAKE CELLULITE or you can be left with pride and self confidence and a sexy body.

              It's up to you.

Re: My 25th Birthday cake! Help! How can I miss it?

My first Atkins, "Birthday Cake" was a cobb salad... full of Bacon, Bleu Cheese, Avocado and all that yummy, INDUCTION friendly stuff.

For me, the one bite attitude is a slippery slope. It goes downhill fast. It's the, "Well, I already had a bite of cake, so I might as well have a Reese's PB Cup. And if I'm having a Reese's I might as well have some garlic bread too." 3 weeks later, bloated and up 10 pounds I think to myself, "Why did I have the bite of cake."

So - look beyond the birthday cake itself...and do you have a plan for it??? And if you don't, make it a plan, don't let it snowball into throwing you off track. You work too hard to get back into ketosis every time you do... and eventually that takes you off this WOE and turns it into a diet.

                Best of luck,

                Happy Birthday!

Well I turned 30 this past year and everyone knew I was on Atkins so I politly declined and told my Dad to have my piece lol. Nobody was upset and everyone understood. Ya gotta stand on your ground that's what I did and everyone was saying WOW. I can't believe how dedicated you are. Make something elese like jello with real whipped cream or something or make yourself some cheesecake so that you can have a piece that's what I would do and it's oHHHHH soooo good. MMM

                      Happy Birthday!
Best present you could give yourself would be to tough it out and avoid the cake. Maybe you could make something Atkins legal to keep you from feeling you're missing out.

                          hiya folks!

about my famous chocolate cake. I MADE ONE! I got chocolate powder unsweeten and powder sweetners.. ok.. i used good butter at least.. I did a nice thick cake! I did add 3 table spoon of white flour more texture to the almond flour. I went over my carb requirements well.. it was my birthday and I enjoyed the cake with my lil family.. Usually mycakes are better, but they didn't turn it all the way down. I got on the scale this morning. I actually lost! So uhmm i'm a bit confused..

Today I did better I haven't to make up for yesterday I limit my veggy intake and I'm not hungry at all really. strange I thought I'd go in a rampage after the cake, but I kept calm mentally and I didn't want to have more than a slice as sweetners are sweeter than sugar.. I didn't like too much the taste.

                          1 birthday down..
