    Mock Danish & KetoStix??

    Hey Guys..
    I was wondering about my KetoStix and the mock danish. Today I checked my KetoStix and noticed it was an unusually dark purple for me. I had just eaten a mock danish that I added coconut extract to. I know that when I go out drinking the alcohol makes my sticks a very dark purple & I was wondering if the extract in the mock danish would do the same? I must admit I really don't how the extracts are made. Also, would the same happen if you ate something with sugar alcohol in it? Thanks in advance for any answers received!!

      Alcohol does give a false reading to those ketostix... not sure about extracts though. Wouldn't have thought they'd interfere, but who knows?? I'll be interested to hear anyone else's answers...

          Does the extract mention alcohol content? If so, that's probably the connection.

              Most extracts DO have a high alcohol content. I can't imagine that it would be significant, tho, if you divide the amount by the number of servings - I'm sure that the alcohol content would be less than you'd see in some salad dressings.

                  Just an update...

                  My ketoStix are still reading a dark purple so I guess it wasn't the extract. Odd that the color would jump like that but I won't complain. I would still like to hear from anyone that might know how extracts and sugar alcohols effect the "stixs". Thanks for replies!

                      Dark purple usually equals not enough water. I've gone and strict meat and eggs and avoided all other carbs for two week periods but never got a deep purple read because I was drinking 1.5 to 2 gallons a day.

                      Are you drinking a lot of water?

                          Yeah, I think I'm drinking enough... I'm not drinking 1-2 gallons a day! I'd say I'm drinking 4-5 bottles of water a day. How was that for you? Just eggs and meat for two weeks?
