  • waddya think?

I have been on exteded induction for 37 days. I feel great. have more energy. I sleep well at night.. I used to get headaches a lot but now they are few and far between. I have lost a lot of inches especially in my stomach, butt and thighs. I can really notice a difference in the way my clothes fit. BUT...I have only lost between 6 and 8 pounds. I don't seem to be loosing and this has been going on for the past three weeks. I am starting to lose hope. I thought that this was my last hope......I need to lost about 30 pounds and I exercise 3 or 4 times a week. Can someone help me?

Losing a lot of inches and seeing a big difference in the way your clothes fit indicates you are losing. I wouldn't worry too much what the scale says. Your body is shrinking. Why would you give up?

Unless your metabolic resistance in painfully high, 37 days in Extended Induction seems an awfully long time to stay there when you only need to lose 30 lbs...honestly that's how most people set themselves up to fail, by staying on Induction for far too long. Perhaps it's time to try moving onto OWL? It's a proven way to kick start weight loss again...skipping OWL isn't the best option....many STAC members will be able to give you excellent advice on the woes of staying on induction too long...

And...losing inches and feeling good is directly related to SUCCESS...seems rather self defeating to quit because you're succeeding doesn't it? The scale lies and if you search through the forums you'll see many many posts on why...

Best advice is to just stick with it because you are succeeding!

      Best of luck!

Don't rely on the scale! You're losing inches & that's great! Have you always exercised this much? You could be losing fat & gaining muscle. You wouldn't see much of a loss on your scale but your measuring tape won't lie!

Ditto what the others said. Sounds like you're doing well. Focus on direction rather than speed and you'll get to goal!

Take a look at this thread on the main forum
            http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=40603
and you will see how a bodybuilder has completely changed his shape and though he has put weight on he looks slimmer and more healthy than his 'before' picture!!

If your shape is changing you are losing FAT and adding MUSCLE and this change in body shape is what people around you will notice. After all - no-one knows what those scales are telling you, they believe what their own eyes are telling them!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Thank you everyone.....I feel so much better. The other thing that annoys me is my husband (whose doesn't?) He has lost a ton of weight....he is also the reason why I won't quit. There is no way that he is going to look better than me. THanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                  Re: waddya think?

I started a day after you, and am now on OWL, rung one....I share your same frustration with what seems to be slow wt. loss. I really thought I'd drop a ton of weight right off, but after 5 1/2 weeks, am down only 12 lbs.---which I am very happy about, but it just seems slow, slow, slow. My friend who started the same day as me has cheated like crazy with junk food and wine, but still managed to drop 15 lbs. in the same time period. <<sigh>>
BUT, this morning I put on a fitted black pantsuit for work, and all of a sudden it is now sooooooo baggy! And like you mentioned, the sleep is better, we're eating healthy foods, and we see all these folks on this forum who have had wonderful successes---so my mantra is "this WILL work, give it time!"
So hang in there, and good luck to you!!!

                    Re: waddya think?

Well I'm glad I came here today and took a look. I joined on January 29 (I think) and I've been very very good........never ate anything I know I shouldn't be eating, staying in ketosis the whole time. Since I entered Ketosis, I haven't had any cravings at all and in fact, I'm just not that interesting - usually - in eating. Not a lot of appetite although I am still eating - omelet or egg for breakfast, some kind of protein and salad for lunch and usually the same for dinner or other veg. Occasionally I'm eating nuts - like at the show instead of popcorn. Or pork rinds.

I FEEL like I"m losing. Some pants are looser. I've lost 2 inches around the waist. But I just can get the scale to move down. Almost right away I went from 198 to 190 (or thereabouts - it's hard to tell exactly on my scale). But I've been up and down from about 188 to 191. I never stay down below the 190 mark and that would be soooooo exhilerating and motivating for me!

but reading the success stories and the encouragement here has helped.

Also the surprise that it's only been 3 weeks - I thought it was a month.

                        Re: waddya think?

I started on Jan 9th and have lost a grandtotal of 7.8 lbs according to my scale. I am having trouble with excersise, but I aint getting frustreated at all. I just have it in my head, the slower I loose it the healthier I'll be and the longer it will stay off.
Keep up the great work, you will definatly reap rewards. Ohh and men always seem to loose faster then women. Grrrrr.
                        Good luck!!

                          Re: waddya think?

Don't give up, what they are saying about the scale telling lies is all true--look at my before picture... 310lbs.... believe it or not I'm 190-200lbs in the second picture. I did tons of working out to get there, and didnt cheat once, while in the process! Eventhough I'm a 200lbs in the picture my clothing size is only 14/16. At 310lbs it was 3x's in shirts and size 28-30 in pants! So, don't let it get you down.....whether it is inches or lbs, a loss is a loss--be thankful for them.

P.S. I worked out for an entire month and didnt lose a lb. When finally did start to lose lbs, I dropped 22lbs in 1.5 weeks and 38lbs total in the first month. I was determined to stick with it and see what happened--just don't give up!
