932 Calories Not Enough?

  • 932 Calories Not Enough?

    I am not sure whether to post this here or in the Review my Menu forum, so will try here. I've had dinner and written everything into FitDay, and today have almost the perfect score of 64% fat, 31% protein, and 5% carbs. But the overall calories only come to 932. I've read they should be a minimum of 1200. So do you suggest I eat a few more things tonight? If so, I hope I keep that good percentage outcome - thanku!

    Your calorie intake is just as important as the precentages of fats, proteins, and carbs. While this diet doesnt really put an emphasis on limiting them, if you don't consume enough of them, your body will eventually go into starvation mode--which will cause it to hold on to the fat that it does have, in order to make up for what it's not getting. Try upping your calories by adding in some atkins friendly high fat/protein snacks. (examples---boiled eggs, cheeses (careful not to eat too much cheese), pork skins (watch the salt), etc. You want to make sure that you take in atleast 1200 calories a day, and even that can be cutting it close for some.

      You want to avoid starvation mode, that's for sure. If you are eating until you are no longer hungry, but still only reaching 932 cals you could try adding a little more fat. It doesn't take much to raise your calorie intake that way.
      I don't think you need to stress too much about the percentages... they are only a guide and each day you don't have to hit those targets precisely, by any means.
