  • anyone have any problems with buffalo wings or mestique chicken?

    HI,

I have gained about 3 pounds this week and it is frusterating. I count calories, carbs and keep track of everything on my palm and everything is in order.

At first I though my gaining was do to having diet drinks 3 days in a row so I stopped that and it is still going up.

Then I thought it might be some saurkraut which I stopped too.

About the only thing that I can think of is some frozen tyson's buffalo wings and some tyson's mestique chicken that I found and had been eating every day this week. It said only 1 carb per serving but the ingredentis list a whole bunch of 50-dollar words so it can not be too healthy.

I have a real problem with lunch meats and processed foods and I was hoping this would be differnt. I guess I am back to cooking plain meats again. I had pretty good luck with that then I hurt my jaw so my options are pretty much limited to grounded meats and maybe some chicken.

Just wonder if anyone else has any experience with these products.

AFter stopping the delicious bagged tyson products I have lost about 2.5 of the pounds I gained in just 2 days.

I guess something in them was a problem for me.

Good Job in paying attention to find what was the problem. Many people keep going lb after lb without figureing it out. Congrats!

          Well done
A lot of prepared dishes have a lot of sodium which might make you retain water, so we need to really check labels!

Not only do prepared foods have added sodium, but many have added starches, sugars, and fillers that you wouldn't even dream of! Some of those $50 words were probably fancy names for some sort of sugar or starch.

Glad you're back on the "losing streak"!

Easy way t fix this is to do you own seasoning and use fresh herbs to give the food you love a fresh taste that is full of flavor with no hidden foods. I visit the herb isle at the store and pick up as many seasonings that dont have carbs or hidden sugars and buy away. I come home and experiment. I live mesquite grilled chicken.I put on liquid smoke, rosmary and basil and I am good to go. You learn very easily when your choices are limited, so coming up with new recipes really helps me

I LOVE hot wings. Love love love.

But the sodium they have due to the sauce...doesn't love me. I can count on gaining 2-3 lbs of water weight imediately the next morning if I have some. Doesn't matter if I buy them from the grocery store with no or low carb, or a restaurant, water weight WILL follow.

The thing is though, it's just water. It's not honest fat. But it makes me crazy sometimes, so I consider chicken wings a treat, and prepare myself for the water weight gain the next day.

We also pound problems with premade buffalo wings, we switched to using Frank's Red Hot sauce and the recipe they give on the bottle (basically it's butter and the sauce). That stuff taste just like what you get in restaurants...quite tasty.

Re: anyone have any problems with buffalo wings or mestique chicken?

i have a current post on here about pre packaged buffalo wings "hot wings". I mis read the carbs per serving "i went way over my carbs with that chicken" I have noticed if i eat pre made stuff i stall for a week or even a small gain. the best i've lost on atkins is when i cooked all my food from fresh meats. I'm not a salt person i don't salt stuff i make. If i have to grab a quick fast food bunless burger i always pay 4 it later. I get disapointed too i'm into week 6 most of what i lost was in the 1st TWO WEEKS "12 lost" all the time after that i've only lost 3 pounds". I do feel better my clothes are not fitting any looser "really". I follow my diet to the letter read the book i drink more then a gallon of water i walk 1 hour every day.

HEY EVERYONE!!!!!!!(I'M NEW LOL) 24 yr, black female, 5'3, 193/193/130
I just had to come in here because I found out something shocking about the brand of hot & spicy buffalo wings I was eating. Now keep in mind I was trying to be "good" by eating these because I really wanted the BBQ kind.
So I went noshing on them all evening and said "let me just look at the sodium count right quick" and I kid you not, 3 of those little wings were 1175g of sodium, I had about 9 of them so you can imagine. Just wanted to tell yall

ooo-faa! that much sodium for 3 wings???!!! drink plenty of water to flush it out of your system. there are some recipes for making your own wings around here: wings, butter, a bottle of durkee red hot. look into it and good luck!
