  • so far....so good

in my intro thread i spoke about how i got stuck at 196 (target weight of 160) having gone through various threads here, i cut out splenda and now im going to cut green tea and stick to water to drink. i checked the old scale this morning and i lost 2 lbs. not much but then not bad for one week.

one other thing i did notice is that i dont eat frequently as i should. i really eat only twice a day and maybe one or two snacks in between. i started induction in mid january at 220 lbs. today im at 194 with about 34 lbs to go.

my breakfast consists of miso soup, fried tofu, some chiken strips and a salad with green ice tea. interestingly enough, the stall thread sticky mentions that too much tea can trigger insulin loss.

on a funny note, i was with a friend and he was hungry, he stopped off at a burger joint, got himself a chiliburger, fries and a coke. for the first time in a long time i looked at the food and didnt feel like i was missing out on anything! strange, normally i would devour burgers and fries.

Are the chicken strips breaded? Also how much plain water are you drinking?

the chicken is not breaded. i cook it on my foreman grill. and actual water...no i dont drink water...which is another mistake of mine. i always drank green tea. when i started it was green tea with splenda and i still lost, but now im eliminating green tea and going with water only.

Good Job on the chicken! Bad Job on the water. LOL With low carb eating, you must drink water to get your full effect. 64 oz + 8 oz per 25 lbs you have to lose. That was probably my hardest thing to do. I lost very slowely before i started drinking water. Now that i drink 100 -150 OZ a day, my body craves it. It has become easier.

I have faith in you, you ccan do it!

          Hi ecomike

Have you considered moving on to the next phase of Atkins (OWL) rather than staying on induction? Many members here found that they restarted losing once they added more carbs into their menus following the order given.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

i have to admit IM TERRIFIED of going to phase two. i feel like the only reason im losing is because i eliminated the foods that made me fat.

when i started, i had 60 lbs to lose. now i need to lose 34. if going to phase two is the best option then im going to have to read up on it some more.

thanks i didnt think of phase two as an option!

                Re: so far....so good

Think seriously about moving to OWL. Many, many people find their weight loss increases on the rungs...particularly rung one which is just more veggies. You could move and stay at rung one for a good long time, if you like.

Don't be afraid of OWL... I was and moved later than I should have... and regretted it. It should be the main portion of your weight loss phase of Atkins. It's fun and the added food choices are very welcome.

                  Re: so far....so good

checked the scale again and im at 195.

ok, this is what ill do.

first: i wont panic like last time! cause thats when i started eating too much starchy foods.

second: i eliminated splenda and teas. stricly water even though i did lose 25 lbs with green ice tea AND a messload of unmeasured splenda.

third: im gonna give this owl rung a shot. starting with rung one (veggies) ill give myself two weeks and see where this goes

fourth: i noticed i was eating a LOT of tofu, even though i kept it under 20 carbs, i started to naturally replace tofu with ANY meat, i even stopped eating chicken for a week and just went with tofu. so im going back to chicken and lean meats.

as far as excerise is concerned. i stopped driving my car, and walk EVERYWHERE i have to go. so far i average 3 miles a day and at least 45 minutes walking. two days ago, i walked a total of 7 miles just to go pay my storage bill. i noticed i had more energy than before i started atkins.

this is going to be tough cause my brain was so focused on phase one that i totally ignored phase two or any of the owl rungs.

HOORAY for deciding to move on to OWL. IMO no one ever got fat eating veggies! I think that between adding veggies and switching to water you'll find yourself losing again.
