  • Cut out Bacon & Cream?

I have had a copy for a week of Dr. Atkins book (5 weeks into the diet), and read it's ok to stay on Induction for months, especially if you have a lot of weight to lose. So that's what I'm doing. So far, I've only lost 4 kgs in 4 weeks. You may know my daughter's wedding is in 2 weeks and I have to walk her down the aisle.

So I was wondering if maybe not having 2 rashers of bacon every morning, and not having half a fluid ounce of cream each day, would help the weight loss? But I still have to eat at least 1200 calories a day, so still have to eat food to reach that.

After the wedding, I will happily move to OWL.

    Any ideas, thanks?

Cutting out bacon might help if the salt is slowing you. There is no way to know what combo may be better for you. One thing to think about is moving to OWL new. Many of us lost quicker in OWL.

I'd say that four kilos in four weeks is terrific! I'd second what Laurenfra says about moving to OWL though... just rung one, which is extra veggies. Very often those extra veggies speed things up.
Careful not to fall into the trap of eating too little... which will really slow you up if your body goes into starvation mode.
Extra activity will help too...though that might not be reflected in what the scales says if you're building muscle (muscle weighs heavier than fat). You'd see the difference on the tape measure though.

Thanku for replying, girls - been hours since I've been on the computer and just read your messages.

Can salt slow your weight loss? I didn't know that. I've always been a salt-a-holic, but use Lite Salt which is 50% less sodium. If bacon can delay weight loss, I would give it up.

I do eat enough, sally.... at FitDay, I work out I usually eat between 1200 and 1600 calories max. I used to only get in the 900s till someone here told me I should eat a minimum of 1200 a day, and someone else a minimum of 1400.

I've been doing lots of exercise lately, especially over the last 6 days except for yesterday, and I did lose one pound. Seems a small drop considering the pace I walk which is VERY fast!!

I guess tomorrow I could forget the bacon and have extra veg, but Dr. Atkins book says you can stay on Induction for months and months, and moving to OWL will slow down weight loss. But many members here say moving to OWL helps weight loss, so I think I will give it a go!

        Thanks

You might also want to check out turkey bacon, the reason I eat it is because it has significantly less sodium in it, atleast the kind I eat does.

Great job so far. Your before and during pictures show a great deal of change. You must feel better too.

Good Luck during the wedding. I just read the post about the cake and you may find that its just too sweet after taking one bite. People will notice your willpower if you decide not to finish the slice too.

Thanks for your compliments, pjtmay Yes, it feels a lot better when slimmer - far more supple, can move, walk and run far more easily - and it helps confidence! After being divorced for 10 years and being very overweight nearly all that time, I am almost on the verge of going out and looking for another hubby one day soon!!
