  • McDonalds weight gain

Has anyone else noticed a small weight gain after eating a bunless burger at McDonalds or Burger King? At McDonalds I had the burger, cheese, lettuce and tomato. At Burger King I had burger, onions, lettuce and tomato. Both times the next morning I had gained 1 or 2 pounds.

So what is that all about?

My guess is from the sodium. Fast food and prepared or processed foods have a lot of salt/sodium. This makes you retain water, causing a temporary weight gain.

I had to run through McDonalds for breakfast this morning because I was running late. I got two sausage patties, and just looked up the nutrients on their website so i could enter it in My FitDay. They do have a lot of sodium.
I really like being accountable for the food I'm putting in my mouth, and finding out about what I'm eating instead of guessing. FitDay helps a lot. Here is the link I used for McDonalds
      Hope it helps

I was thinking it had to be the salt too. Where is a good place to grab something quick without the extra salt?

          The supermarket!

I do my shopping for the week and prep ahead of time. In a pinch (when I was out of town) I stopped at a grocery store deli and bought some sliced cheese and sliced meat--but that doesn't avoid the sodium issue.

When I'm in a hurry, I grab hardboiled eggs, cooked chicken breasts, sliced veggies, a cheesestick. Always try for WHOLE, UNPROCESSED foods, or ones that you prepare yourself. It does take a bit of planning, but when you shop for a week and portion/prepare many foods ahead of time, you're saving money, time, and eating healthier stuff!

Small weight gain? Are you weighing yourself daily or weekly? I eat at McDs at least once a week (3 and 5 year old that love the playground there) and have the same thing. Two double cheeseburgers plain and a diet soda. I cut it up and eat it like a steak. I can say that I don't necessarily notice a gain but I only weigh myself twice a week. I found in past diets I would weigh myself everyday and it would drive me nuts if I gained. Typically there will be ups and downs but if you look at the end of the week results you should see a loss (if you are not cheating).

            Good luck!

McDonalds I believe also adds fillers to their so called beef. And McDonalds puts sugar in everything. Beware!....lol

EVERYTHING at Mcdonalds (except diet coke) that could possibly be considered Atkins friendly, contains sugars! Many restaurants inject mixtures which include sugar, into any of their meat. Even the salads contain sugar. I would avoid it if at all possible.
