  • Agggggh!!!! So mad at myself!!

I had lost 11lbs. the first week of Atkins. The 2nd week my 2 year old was eating ice cream and I caved. After that I went on an eating binge and ate like a mad woman. The next day I went right back on it, but I can tell I gained.

How long does it take to get back to ketosis? I can tell I'm not losing now, and I am so mad at myself! It's been about 3 days since it happened, and I am going to do extended induction now.

Good for you for getting back on the wagon the very next day! Don't ponder on what's done with regret, just use it as a lesson in how horrid you feel when you cave... now, look to the future, focus on your goal and carry on eating the Atkins way.

Post often too... we're here for you.

Firstly - congratulations on those 11 pounds lost already

Secondly - congratulations on catching yourself up from that downward spiral into carbdom and returning to your chosen way of eating before too long had passed

Thirdly - (as Sally said) at least you now have concrete evidence that 'just one bite' can and does hurt your weightloss efforts, so you have the weapon of experience to help you withstand that temptatoin the next time

As to how long it will take to get back into ketosis, it is one of those YMMV (your mileage may vary) things, so just stick to the plan and before too long I am sure you will be back on the losing trail.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Don't get discouraged. Keep it going and good job paying attention and getting back on track.

It's like riding a bike, sometimes you'll fall off, get back on.
Heck, sometimes you might even just want to stop on the side of the road, stretch your legs, and rub your sore behind .... no big deal .....

Just get back on the road again ASAP.

There's no such thing as staying in one place, we're either moving closer towards our goals or further away from them. Keep moving forward.
