  • Atkins Sample Induction Menu

I was looking over the sample induction menu on the Atkins site and noticed a couple of things that raise some questions for me. Some of the items listed on the menu are items I had understood to not be on the acceptable list.

Can't imagine these items listed on the official site if they're not acceptable but I'd been told they aren't...can someone explain, please? Thank you!

Day 1 - 1 slice bran crisp bread or Wasa high fiber flat bread (grain?)
Day 3 - 1/2 cup unprocessed bran flakes served with 1 cup Hood Carb Countdown™ reduced-carb whole-milk dairy beverage and sweetened with sucralose. (it would make me really happy to find out Hood Carb Countdown was acceptable. <G>)
Day 4 - 1 slice Wasa Rye Flat Bread (grain?)
Day 5 - 3 pancakes made from 1/2 cup soya flour (isn't that made from soybean?)
Chocolate Mint Mousse (Whey Protein is alright?)
Day 12 - Chocolate Mudslide (I was told that cocoa powder had sugar in it, there's not ingredients listed on my can though)
    Day 13 - 1 low-carb tortilla filled with 2 eggs, scrambled

Stick to the acceptable foods listed in the book. Pay no attention to the site.

Not at all the way Dr. Atkins intended his plan to be done but....since he is no longer around and "Atkins Nutritionals" has taken over....I'm sure the good Dr. is turning over in his grave!!!

Congratulations for working out that no matter what Atkins the company say you should be sticking to what Atkins the doctor said
"If it ain't on the allowed list for induction it ain't legal" is a good motto!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Exactly what they said. I *still* haven't found that darn Hood milk (no, I haven't gone to Wal-Mart, Jimmie, but I really hate that place).

            Re: Atkins Sample Induction Menu

I just wanted to chime in, too, and ditto what the others have said. It is critical to follow the 2002 DANDR.

I have the first book put out by Atkins Nutritionals after Dr. A's death called "The Atkins Essentials", A Two-Week Program To Jump-Start Your Low Carb Lifestyle. Most of it is dedicated to explaining the two weeks of Induction. It lists the acceptable foods and provides a 2 week meal plan. At the end it briefly describes the other phases, but is mainly geared toward induction.

            It's crap.

The very first breakfast has a slice of Atkins Bakery Multigrain Bread. Throughout the menu, other no-no's include Atkins Hot Cereal, Atkins Advantage Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar, Atkins Bakery Rye Bread, Atkins Bakery White Bread, pancakes from Atkins Quick Quisine Pancake & Waffle Mix, Atkins Quick Quisine Banana Nut Muffin, Atkins Morning Start Creamy Cinnamon Bun Breakfast Bar, Atkins Advantage Ready-To-Drink Chocolate Delight Shake, Atkins Advantage Ready-To-Drink Creamy Vanilla Shake, low carb tortillas, and Atkins Morning Start Blueberry Muffin Breakfast Bar.

            What the ****?

All of this was included in the 2 week Induction Menu. This is the best example I can think of to show the intent of Atkins Nutritionals the company versus Dr. Atkins himself. It speaks for itself.

Do it by the 2002 DANDR, not their book or website.

              Re: Atkins Sample Induction Menu

The Atkins company now is only concerned with making money off of their products than what the true diet is supposed to be. Dont buy into it....literally and figuratively.
