  • Trying not to get discouraged! Help!

Okay, I'm trying so hard not to get discouraged. Today is day 25 and I'm doing really good as far as staying with induction. I did have one piece of easter candy!
I've lost 13 lbs, but nothing since the first week & 1/2. All of you know how hard it is to stay "incouraged" and I need some!! I'm so set to do this and I try to stay off the scales but there they are....and I have to peak!! I felt the 13lbs...a little but nothing since. You know sometimes it feels like your waisting your time when it gets like this.... I have about 50 more lbs to go.
If any of you experienced this...this soon in the diet....please help me get through it so I won't give up!!!
    Thanks sooooo much!

Take your measurements. Other than that, look for posts about Post-Induction Stall Syndrome. It's basically when your body resets itself after losing a bunch to get ready to lose more. Sometimes when the scale doesn't move, the measurements are still moving. Drink lots of water and get in your exercise.

Girl, I'm in the SAME place. I lost the first 3 weeks, now I'm on week 6 and have bounced up and down the same 3 pounds or so ever since that first loss. It's scary because I got stuck at the EXACT SAME NUMBER on WW. I keep thinking this is apparently 'my number' but I don't want it to be. If you need to chat or want to buddy up, let me know! We can keep pushing each other!

Move over, 'cause ME TOO. I'm in my fourth week and lost 16ish lbs and now I'm flat. Same pound up and down and I need to lose well over 100lbs.

        Talk about maddening.

I'm here with you too. First two weeks, I lost 10 pounds, i have bounced at that point, this is the middle of week 5. I KNOW i'm on track. I cut out artificial sweetners, in diet pop and diet jello. Watch the cheese intake, my percentages are right on. This week, I decided that its time I HAVE to exercise and kicked that up a notch. I can feel my body changing and I feel way better than I did one month ago. I'm keeping positive, that scale WILL move. Hang in there, that is what is good about this board, its so supportive. Even if you lurk big time like I do most times, it still makes you feel part of something good.

Re: Trying not to get discouraged! Help!

I am in my 6th week of extended induction. I lost 30 lbs the first four weeks and then stopped. This morning the scale registered another 4 lbs lost. I understand after reading this forum that I can expect a stall here and there as far as the scale goes, but more importantly, I can now appreciate all that is said about the inches. My clothes are beginning to hang and I can get into the next smaller sizes of my vast sized wardrobe! Hang in there and you will continue to see results. I have lost 34 of the 120 ugly pounds I am determined to lose...this is the best woe I have ever experienced and wonder what took me so long to try it! My knees are already thanking me and my back is feeling much better these days too!

Re: Trying not to get discouraged! Help!

A stall after your first loss is common. Post Induction Stall Syndrome (PISS for short) is what we call it. As Lyssie said, why not do a search on that and see other posts about it. It's maddening to have to wait, but... if you're eating right, drinking masses of water and exercising the scales will move again sooner or later.
You could also try posting a menu (with quantities preferably) in the "Review my Menu" forum and see if anything needs a tweak. Sometimes it can be just a small, surprising thing that's putting a spanner in the works.

Hang in there! You can do it!

Re: Trying not to get discouraged! Help!

Im the same too, first week I lost 7 lbs then NOTHING. Also I did cheat a little on easter so I dont expect to lose much with the cheap factor going on. But I can feel Im losing inchs more cause of the way my clothes fit and how Im finding it easier to get around and move. I can see some tone coming into my arms too from the dumb bell work outs.

Hang in there it will all pay off, try to forget about what you are doing as in just tell yourself this is your new way of life and go about your day and before you know it you will be getting people say OH WOW you have lost weight.

I have been in a holding pattern for a while now as well. My body seems to like the weight I am at now. Too bad, I dont! So what do we do? Everything that we have been doing because we are doing everything right. We didnt put it on overnight so its safe to assume its not going to come off overnight. But I truly believe that it will come off for each and everyone of us that sticks with it. Amp up the exersize and down that water! And dont forget to stay focused on the prize!

Re: Trying not to get discouraged! Help!

Ya'll are great! I know its hard for all of us!! And this forum is great and might just be what I need to get through it!! The scales still haven't moved! UGH! But I've decided to stay off them for awhile. I guess its encouraging to know that I'm not alone and that its pretty normal and I WILL get passed it!!!
I did measure. But the only thing I measured was right around the middle at the belly button! I've lost 1 inch there. I haven't done much exercising but I'm going to pump that up. I do realize from past experiences that its the only way I kept it off for several yrs is exercising. I've fought this battle pretty much all my life. Lose, keep it off a few yrs and then I'm back at gaining again. I haven't had the weight off since right after my 8 yr old was born. So I'm so ready. I've been on diet after diet. I was on Atkins after he was born. 3 1/2 months and lost 35lbs. The problem there was I didn't weigh at all (except the beginning) and when I got on those scales (because I felt and was looking great) I was done. Thats why really I need to stay off the things. I gained it back ina few months and have had no success since. I am a hairstylist (15 yrs) and my back hurts and I have no cartledge left in my left knee....I suppose all careers have some kind of problems from it, but the weight needs to come off especially for that knee. I own the salon so I can NOT take time off to fix the knee.....But I want to look good 'before' I come out of the "29" age hahaha!! I want to stay there as long as I can!
I've rattled on.....sorry about that!! But thanks so much to ALL of you...and good luck to you!!! I'm sure we'll be chatting alot through our adventure!

Re: Trying not to get discouraged! Help!

This is absolutely normal! Hang in there, you have all experienced success, and now is not the time to throw in the towel!

Much of your induction loss is water. Real fat from your body will come off slower. There will be entire weeks when you may not lose any weight according to the scale, then you may drop pounds the next time you weigh. There will be days when you get on the scale and you've gained a few back. Normal!
Review your menu periodically to make sure you are eating as you should, make sure you follow "the power of five" when in OWL.
                          Just stay with it!

Try looking at your weight loss by a month by month basis. Where were you a month ago? Where will you be one month from now?
                          Stats:
                          Age: 41
                          Sex: F
                          Height: 5'2"
                          Highest weight ever: 170+

I have an addiction to record keeping now and need to weigh myself every morning over the last 11days my weight has gone like this ...280.6 ,280 ,281.6 ,281.8 ,279.8 ,280 ,278.2, 276.6 ,276.2 ,276.8 ,274.6....don't give up ,keep on track I seem to gain fluid and then have what they call a "whooshie" around here. Follow induction ,don't weigh aday or two after exercise (builds up fluid) and stay positive!
It also helps to figure out eating triggers....
