  • Atkins follower from Denmark looking for some advice!!

    Hi everybody

What a great forum this is, it's amazing. Have just tried the recipe for the revolution buns, and I nearly cried when I ate a cheese/ham/salad/cucumber and mayo sandwich - I'n not missing my bread but with a 6mths old I was missing being able to grab a quick lunch and maybe even bring it to the park, without looking like a big fat meat-eater

I've read the book over and over again, it's the danish version but I can't figure out if:

1)can I use the soyaprotein, not flour, in dishes on induction?
    2) my sister has come across some products in Copenhagen from Russell Stover, they are low carb - has anybody got advice on these?
3)what exactly is maltdextrose? is it a wheat extract?
    4) which brand of cream cheese do you use? I can get Philidelphia here, is that okay?
    5) can I eat regular peas or is it just the sugar snaps?

I hope somebody can help me, it's difficult being in a country that doesn't cater for low carb diets.

I've been on induction now for 16 days and I have lost a total of 7,2 kg and 34,5cm, I'm amazed. I feel absolutly fantastic, specially now that the sun is out and I can put on a skirt, I still have another 12,8 kg to go, postpregnancy weight. How is it possible to keep loosing cm and no weight? I lost 800gr in the second week but 11 cm. Where does it disappear from?

Anyway thanks for taking the time to read this.

Emma has done a good job of answering most of your questions.

      2. The RS 'low carb' sweets are probably sweetened with sugar alcohols which might affect you in the 'bathroom' area!
If they go straight through you, you can discount most of the sugar alcohol carbs because your body has not absorbed them, but if they dont give you discomfort then you would be better to count all of the carbs as they are being processed by your body and hsould therefore be counted.

      4. I have found that Waitrose 'own brand' of cream cheese has half the carbs that philadelphia cream cheese does so I would suggest comparing different brands to get the one with least carbs.

congratulations on your loss so far
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
