  • Snacking After Dinner

I was wondering if anyone else has a problem with eating snacks/desserts after dinner? I have noticed that almost every night I will save my cheese allotment for the day and eat 2 tablespoons of cream cheese with either pumpkin or cocoa powder with a packet of splenda after dinner. It's like I'm not satisfied until after I get my dessert in! I eat all the required veggies throughout the day and stick to my fats and proteins, but I always get the craving for my dessert. I have even tried to eat some more protein and fats after dinner like another piece of meat or some cheese like Gouda or Edam, but I still want my dessert.

Has anyone ever broken this cycle of snacking after dinner? I'm afraid I will be consuming too much right before bed and I will start to gain weight!

You might want to take a look at how much this controls your life. Atkins is partially about breaking additions to sweets, and addictions in general so if you're reinforcing the sweet/dessert addiction by allowing yourself to have it every night-you're right, it could negatively effect your weight loss. On the other hand, if this is something that you really want to keep in your life, just make sure the treats are diet appropriate and count the carbs!

        Guilty!

Yep I either save my cheese or have a bowl of rhubarb and cream mmmmm - yes it is a habit thing with me - but it is better than munching my way through a 100g chocolate bar and a bottle of wine!!

This does happen more if we have an early dinner though - and if my hubby is sitting there munching chocolates! - which to be quite honest I don't have a problem with - I don't even crave it anymore.

Trouble is I feel good after dinner but after my 'treat' I feel stuffed so I know it is just a bit too much! - So..........Starting from tomorrow I think I will stop buying these bits and do something like the ironing instead for a few days.

Sandy - YES I CAN see the difference! - Not just the disappearing stomach but you are more confident - standing up straighter for starters! and that big smile! Well done - keep up the good work!

              Re: Snacking After Dinner

I've gotten to the point where I wont buy cheese because I can't control myself with it. Or I'll buy sticks where I can't eat 12 slices without realizing it. The same is true with cream. I've started to make a habit of cream in my decaf coffee each morning, I may have to stop buying that too!

                  Re: Snacking After Dinner

You definitely look a lot slimmer than 16 pounds difference in weight, Sandy

Not only the tummy and neckline (do I spy collarbones almost peeking through?) but also not so much behind you either!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
