Haven't lost in 4 weeks!!

  • Haven't lost in 4 weeks!!

    Hello to all:

    I've been on Atkins for 4 weeks and haven't lost a pound, my clothes seem looser and so does my shoes, but I haven't seen any pounds moving away. My friends say that's normal, but on friend lost 8 lbs already and she's been on for 3 weeks. I'm eating eggs, bacon, cheese or sometimes a Atkins shake for breakfast. Lots of water over 16 glasses a day (I love water). Lunch and dinner it's burgers, steak, sometimes cheese, water, sometimes salads, chicken. I don't what I'm doing wrong or is this normal for my body? My husband tells me to keep at it, I will lose the weight soon. But, I feel at a lost. What should I do??

    First off, have you read the book? Then, make sure you are eating your veggies. Also, avoid those products like Atkins shakes. They do nothing but make you "think" your are on the diet...seriously, THAT'S IT. The object is to move away from fake-you-out diet food. If you follow the plan you won't WANT sweets. And aren't those foods what brought us all here?

    I am normally a lurking secondtimearounder but I would hate to see you give up because I think your heart is in it, and for me that is half the battle. Read the book and eat your veggies. I think you'll have tremendous luck...er..it isn't luck, it is success that you deserve if you follow the plan!

      Are you measuring the foods you eat? Seems like your guessing or maybe eating what you want in the volume you want. You can't do that on Atkins, especially cheeses. And sometimes salads? Never should be a sometimes. It's a must. Veggies are a must. I eat more veggies than meat.

        So you are probably losing FAT which takes up more room than muscle, but weighs the same

        we can never compare ourselves to another person's progress. Our body will make its own decision on how and when to drop pounds - all we can do to affect this is to stick to the rules

        Maybe you need to list all you are eating including quantities in our 'Review my Menu' forum so you can get some input and advice

        congratulations on drinking your water many people find that a really difficult part of Atkins

        all we know of your body so far is that you are female and want to lose weight - let us know your height, age, current weight and goal weight and perhaps someone can answer that question
        The simplest way to do this is to add the info to your signature by going to your control panel (User CP link above) and selecting the 'edit my signature' option.
        My husband tells me to keep at it, I will lose the weight soon. But, I feel at a lost. What should I do??
        I agree with your husband - stick at it for a while longer, maybe move to the second phase of Atkins which is the main weightloss stage (OWL) and start adding carbs in the amounts and order given in DANDR and see what happens. And do post some typical menus in the Review forum in case you are eating a recognised staller by mistake!!

          Well, personally, i think you should of lost something, certainly on induction, which makes out your doing *something* wrong... i'll put bets on the shakes... they stalled me completely!! and as soon as i cut them out *poof* gone!
          Your veggies dont sound too positive either! are you eating 3 cups a day?? you should be!!

          use www.fitday.com to plug all your foods in!

          and post a menu as Elizellen said, people will be able to let you know from there whats going wrong!

            Try to keep it simple. Here is a sample menu plan for today:


            Breakfast - scrambled eggs
            Lunch - McDonalds Doublecheeseburgers plain with no bun
            Dinner - Chicken Breast dipped in ranch dressing
            Snack - meatballs (Wal-Mart has some for the crockpot)

            Diet soda and water throughout the day


            I think some people over-analyze this diet like others which can cause problems. As long as you stay under 20G during induction, you should lose. I have been on Atkins for 12 weeks now and have lost EVERY week. One week was only a half a pound but it was still a loss.

              Cnbweb-that's not Atkins. You are required 3 cups of veggies per day on induction. If you aren't eating veggies, you aren't doing Atkins.

              Also, check those meatballs. They most likely have bread crumbs as an ingredient, or some sort of "rice flour" or something like that. Not induction friendly at all.

                I was just trying to explain a possible meal plan on Atkins. Yes I do eat vegetables!!!. I also checked the bag of meatballs and no bread crumbs or rice ingredients. Check it out for yourself at Wal-Mart, they are Atkins friendly and a good filler for a snack. Thanks for keeping everyone aware though that Atkins is not just meat and eggs!

                      Follow Elizellen's advice...she is a success at this WOE! Give us some more info on yourself so we can help. If you are not losing weight, you may be losing inches which are good, too! If you have not taken measurements, take them now!! Remeasure weekly or biweekly to track your progress.

                      Are you adding in exercise yet? Maybe it would help.

                      Keep us posted! You can succeed at this! Stick with it!

                        That was just a menu that I was doing that day. I was not going to have time to eat at home and had to adjust for that day. Why do I feel like you are attacking me and I have to defend myself?

                          People are not attacking you I am sure only trying to suggest menu 'tweaks' that might help you and may have assumed you were not aware of the vegetable 'requirement'.

                          Maybe if you posted some more typical menus people might be able to spot a 'staller'?

                            I am not stalling.

                            I posted what I was eating on that day to help the person who started this thread. I have lost every week that I have been on Atkins and was only sharing what I was planning on eating that day. But since I didn't list any vegetables other users are all bent out about it. I come to this site to help others and get advice for myself but this is really getting ridiculous!

                              Here's the deal: We didn't know you knew about the veggie requirement.

                              There are countless people out there who say they're doing "Atkins" and all they're doing is eating meat and cheese. The worst thing that could happen is that a new Atkineer would read that post and mistakenly think that's what they should be eating everyday, or that they would think Atkins is NO-carb, not low-carb.

                              Members are always on the lookout for ways to help other members. Two heads are better than one and usually someone else can see a problem that another cannot. So, the members of ADBB promote following Atkins to the letter, and make sure to post if they see anything that needs tweaking.

                              There was no intention of offending you, and no intention of having you defend yourself. I can guarantee that the members were just looking out for someone's best interests.
