  • My progress so far...

Just needing some encouragement/advice about my progress so far on Atkins...

I'm on Day 22 and still on induction.

I've only lost 8.4 lbs. I've lost a total of 8 inches around my mid-section (measured in 4 different locations).

When should I start seeing more weight loss since my weight hasn't really changed for the past week or so?
Back in Induction again...fell off the wagon...Atkins was great though...I dropped down to 187...the lowest I've been in several years!

Everybody loses weight differently. I'm a slow loser myself because I've yo-yo'd on and off the wagon too many times.

I know you'll get some wonderful advise from experienced folks, but I just want to tell you you're doing a great job if you have lost over 8 pounds in 22 days. If you think about it, that's a 1/3 a pound a day (roughly) and/or over 2 pounds a week. You're doing great!

Some things you might want to look at is if you should move up to OWL rung 1 with more veggies, check you salt in take, exercise, hormones, etc. There's many factors with slowly weight loss...and from the looks of your siggy, you've done a great job losing! I would say also that your body is also adjusting to the weight loss.

    Keep up the awesome work!

    Cheers!

      Hi Polkadots,

I started around the same weight you did, according to your stats, and I have lost around the same amount of weight. Trust me I understand. I am a bit dissapointed myself of how slow this seems to be going for me compared to other people. It sucks because it tempts me to give up sometimes. Anyways, hopefully we will get some advice here on what else we should be doing.

apple -- Yes, I'm proud of the weight and inches I have lost!

Bee -- hope this thread will help you as well!

I've wondered if the fact that I was already doing Weight Watchers (total of 36 lbs with the 8 lbs lost with Atkins) if my body didn't have as big of a culture shock to it so to speak. I was eating high carb counts, but maintaining an healthy diet. I'm drinking my water everyday, taking vitamin, exercising...

I do have PCOS ... currently not taking birth control pill to activate my monthly... kinda waiting to see if this change of eating habits will trigger my monthly to start. ??

Well If I've learned anything here, its that the scale isnt always your friend. The inches lost are! I'm on day 19 myself and only lost 8 lbs, but lost 3 inches around my waist and thighs. I can tell the difference in the way my clothes fit. You can't rush the weight loss. Its a gradual process and everyBODY is different. You are changing your whole way of eating and your body has to adjust to that. Someone suggested I up my water intake and cut out diet soda and coffee, and its helped a lot. The main question is how do you feel? Do you feel better overall? If you do, then its worth sticking with it. Your heading in the right direction, just hang in there!

I was just thinking: 8 lbs. Think of how many months, or maybe even a year, that it took you to put on that 8 lbs. All the time that it took for you to gain that weight and look how quickly its gone! Good for you!

WOW! I admire your dedication and determination and how well you have done on this plan. I am pretty sure I will be a "slow loser" too, but that's ok.

Guess I feel like, the time is gonna go by, whether I am caring for myself or not...so...why not make the best of it? Do the best for myself?

Sometimes counting the days/months are just as cursing the numbers on the scale.

You are doing wonderful; keep up the good work! You keep people like me motivated

                Re: My progress so far...

If we really had total control of our weight loss we'd be at goal tomorrow. This WOE takes time and everything we learn from it will hopefully carry us to a place where we are happy with our bodies. But lets face it, if we lost our weight and felt terrible it wouldn't really mean that much. If we focus on how much better we feel today I think it is easier to be patient for tomorrow's weight loss successes. We are getting a reward in just a few days of a clean induction not to mention the delicious food we get to eat. How many times do we see an eating lifestyle say "are you sure you are eating enough calories?". Wow, you just gotta love that.

Polkadots, you are doing great. I think the 3rd week is the toughest because the newness wears off. THIS is the time to stand firm and keep on track. Once you get past it you will feel so proud that you are really in it for the long haul. Drink lots of water and post often.

Ditto what the others have said. You're doing fine. Try to think direction, rather than speed. If you keep focused on your target weight, you'll get there... and once you're at goal the time will seem to have passed in a flash.
