  • What is a girl to do?

    I need a friend.....

    Shame on me!!!! SHAME!!! I feel like rubbing my nose in those empty little "sugar free" chocolate wrappers..... all five of them!!!! Okay, Okay, so they are bite sized, and only 6g carbs for 6 of them.....but that has to be what is slowing my weight loss down!!! My husband to be has lost 5 more freakin lbs this week...and it is only freakin WEDNESDAY!! UGH! My clothes don't fit differently either, so I doubt I lost inches.

    .............OKAY...... Just Breathe!! ......Inhale, Exhale, .....That's Better!!

    Okay, now that I am done screaming, I think I might cry. I was so excited to lose my 7lbs, but I weighed this am and had gained two back. This is what a typical day of grubbing is 4 me:

    9am- 2-3 eggs, scrambled with butter and 2 slices of cheese

    11-12- Snack- string cheese or celery

    2pm- Leftovers from night before- Meat s/a chicken, shrimp or steak
    and a vegetable- broccoli or green beans

    6-7pm- Same as 2pm ......A sensible meat and veggie

    7pm- cheese or celery


    So, what is the deal? I work out at curves 3 times a week. I don't want to be chubby anymore, Can anyone offer me any advice?

    First thing I see is you may be having too much cheese.
    Also how much water are you drinking?

      I drink 7-10 12oz glasses, but, I drink it by means of tea made with splenda-decaf.

        I almost peed my pants and snorted water up my nose when I read this.....I feel like that sometimes. I need to rub my nose in my vices too at times. The problem is...if I could get away with it, you'd probably catch me wallowing in the dessert bar, reveling and rolling around in it. Glad to hear you at least stop at 5 of them. I have a problem with binge behavior with stuff like that....I'd probably go for the whole bag in one sitting and then feel horrible about it later.

        Sooooo, your menu looks good. I have to ask when did you start Atkins? Because there IS a pause sometimes in the 2nd to 6th week. I, personally, experienced a pause during weeks 3-4 and I've seen plenty of others have the same thing happen to them. The sugar free products are evil and very alluring too. Keep this in mind...sugar free junk food is STILL junk food and eating junk is what got us in this predicament.

          You are only allowed 3 sweetners per day and you need that 7-10 to be plain H2O

            Thanks 4 your advice, I will start drinking PLAIN water during the day. I almost knew that my "water intake" by Class B tea was too good 2 be true. (Class B tea is what us southern girls call unsweetened or artificially sweetened tea!) You are right about the cheese too, I am like a rat when it comes to that stuff!!! Provolone is my absolute fave (: Thank you for your advice and encouragement!

            Joy- Congrats on the NO SMOKING sign you now hold up! I put my ciggs down December of 2005 and have not picked them up since! It is tough, but the way I look at it, I traded one habit for another......FOOD>>>>and now I don't want any Habits!!!! I am too good for habits! I am currently in my 3rd week of atkins and did get dissappointed when I did not see a loss last week, but my mindset now is that this is my new LIFESTYLE......This will not be another fad diet for me. This is just another challenge that I plan to rise above.

              Great attitude, Tabatha! I'm pretty proud of myself for quitting the cigs. That's a nasty habit I don't EVER want to pick back up.

              As for the tea...let me tell ya how wicked that stuff can be. Though, the "real stuff" probably wouldn't have given me this trouble....Lipton came out with a "brewed tea" machine. It's a stand alone tea machine and the tea tastes freakin awesome! When I quit smoking, I took up coffee which causes me big time issues, so to get off the coffee I switched back to the unsweet tea from this machine. Now, I never suspected anything wrong with that...it was unsweet, I was drinking over 100 ounces of pure water in addition to the tea....for 10 months my weight loss slowed to a slow, sputtering crawl. About a month ago, I happened to see the box the "tea extract" comes in for this machine. I couldn't believe my eyes. So, I called Lipton and they sent me the PDF files of the nutrition label for the tea. THE UNSWEET tea had high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup in it!!!!! The UNSWEET! I gave it up...had one **** of a headache for a week....and had a 7 lb whooshie that week.

              So, you never know what might be a staller. Read labels and if you can kick a habit, you're probably better off in more ways than one. I do miss my tea....but I'd rather have my goal weight/size/self respect than tea any day!

                Honey, I had a heck of a plateau where I gainded and lost the same 5 lbs for 4 weeks. I had been indulging my sweet tooth with sugar free chocolate, just a piece or two a day. If I subtracted the sugar alcohol there was only 1 carb per serving which sounded great, but wasn't. I stopped eating the candy and the weight started coming back off. Be sure to watch that kind of stuff because it will cause stalls. Not to mention that the more I ate, the more I craved it. I just stopped eating it all together.

                Definately drink, drink, drink that plain water! It will work miracles for your weight loss. I drink all my water and then I let myself have a treat like a diet rite soda or decaf tea. I agree with Laurenfra, you may have been too high on the artificial sweetners also.

                With a little tweaking, you should be shedding the pounds in no time!!
